MPCC RAFFLE CAR IN TRENTON

The Mid-Plains Community College raffle car is headed to Southwest Nebraska this weekend. The 1969 Ford Mustang Convertible will start out at Trenton from 4-9 p.m. Friday at the Good Life Marina for the 13th annual Dam Car Show. From there, the Mustang will travel to the Arapahoe Car Show in Arapahoe. It will be on display in the city park from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. The car will be in Curtis on Tuesday. It will be set up at Curtis Collision from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Herrick Auto and Marine from 2-4 p.m. and the Yellow Rose beginning at 5 p.m. The car is touring the state this summer, making appearances at car shows, parades and cruise night events. The state allows MPCC to conduct the raffle within a 90-day window. A total of 10,000 raffle tickets will be offered at a price of $10 each. Proceeds will be used for scholarships for students in the college's transportation programs and to help offset the cost of producing the next raffle car project. Tickets are sold everywhere the vehicle is displayed. A schedule is posted at mpcc.edu/ community/npcc-classic-car-projects/car-raffle. Tickets can also be purchased in the welcome centers at any of MPCC's campuses in McCook, North Platte, Broken Bow, Imperial, Ogallala and Valentine.

GOVERNOR APPOINTS NEW DIRECTOR

Gov. Pete Ricketts has appointed a new director to lead the Nebraska Department of Economic Development. Ricketts announced Wednesday that Tony Goins, of Lincoln, will take the job overseeing the stage agency. He will replace Dave Rippe, who is stepping down Aug. 9 to return to his home in Hastings. Goins serves as director of Branded Products for Lincoln Industries, where he leads a sales team responsible for aftermarket truck and Harley Davidson parts. He is also the CEO and partner of the Capital Cigar Lounge and leads a consulting firm, the Business Optimizer & Partners LLC. Goins previously served as an executive for Cabela's World's Foremost Bank. Goins will start in his new role Oct. 7 with an annual salary of $200,000.

FARMLAND VALUES SLIP

Farmland values slipped some during the first half of this year in

Iowa, Nebraska, and South Dakota. However, Farm Credit Services

of America says overall that the market for cropland values contin-

ues to make adjustments to the current agricultural economy. The

value of the 64 benchmark farms that FCSA keeps track of declined

an average of 0.59 percent in the first half of this year. Since the

farmland market peaked back in 2013, cropland values have

dropped 20 percent in Iowa, 21 percent in Nebraska, and 12 per-

McCook Humane Society cent in South Dakota in the company's benchmark farmland study.

Tim Koch, FCSA's Chief Credit Officer, says, "Despite continued tight commodity price margins in 2018, real estate values remained stable and were supported by favorable interest rates, market facilitation payments, and equilibrium in supply and demand for real estate."

for seventh in the league standings, UNK tallied 46

points to come in ninth and ahead of Missouri Southern

State (34), Northeastern State (23) and Lincoln (12), who

is returning to the MIAA after a five-year absence. Two-
