The District's Accomplishments and Challenges

Accomplishments: In the past year our elementary school staff implemented the Multi Tier System of Support (MTSS) in the subject area of Reading. Excellent gains were made by students who had been struggling with Reading. Our secondary school staff went through the structuring process for MTSS in Reading with plans for the implementation phase taking place in the upcoming school year. Our graduation and attendance rates remain high compared to the state averages.

Challenges: Declining enrollment is the greatest challenge we face as our FTE fell from 176.6 in 2011 to 159.3 in 2012. We are concerned about future spending cuts which will have to be made because of this decline in enrollment and the state aid per pupil remaining at $3838. However, our staff is still very strong and committed to educating our students to the fullest.
