McKeever Jr. Advancing Diversity Leadership Award, June 4, 2019WIU President’s Excellence in Diversity Award for Excellence in Education May 3, 2018.WIU Beta Gamma Sigma Chapter Professor of the Year, April 3, 2016IMPACTDuring the review period, I have assisted or lead efforts in fundraising for both the Accounting and Finance program. Amounts raised since 2012 exceed average historical results. Scholarship funding has increased from approximately $30,000 per year to over $100,000 as of 2018 and $60,000 in 2019. Support for faculty research has been sustained. The number of students participating in internships and practicum have increased. During the most recent academic year, 42 students took academic internships. This is an increase from 32 during the last academic year.Rebuilt professional relations with Deloitte’s Davenport office. Deloitte’s team actively recruits WIU Accounting students for internships and entry-level career positions. Five placements in the last 4 years. Supported college efforts with ADM to establish WIU as a recruiting source for interns and new hires. In the first two years, we have had three interns with ADM from the Department of Accounting and Finance.Proposed an increase in the number of provisional testing days to 150 from 120 days in Illinois. The Board of Examiners accepted the proposal and placed it before the Illinois Joint Committee for Administrative Rules for its second reading. At the end of this 45-day reading, the provision was adopted. This allows us to initiate the CPA project in 2018. The goal is to have all CPA Project candidates take all four parts of the CPA exam prior to graduating from the Masters of Accountancy program. Dress rehearsals have been completed for this project. The first cohort of CPA Project scholars are matriculating during the summer 2019 or fall 2019 semesters.Have secured permission to use the name “The CMA? Project” in developing a project that encourages undergraduate students to take both parts of the CMA examination prior to graduating with their undergraduate degrees in accounting. The department secured the IMA CMA Exam endorsement during the spring 2019 semester. Have championed faculty initiatives to increase educational opportunity and student enrollments. Secured General Education’s Health and Well-being classification for Finance 101 Financial Health course. Maintained steady enrollments in accounting until 2017-2018, grown enrollments in Finance, and in the Masters of Accountancy programs when enrollments generally have been declining. ................
