Reflexive Verbs: Special pronoun (Not IOP nor DOP)

The direct object is you. You are doing the action and receiving the action.

esconderse: To hide (one’s self)

NORMAL VERB with DOP:

Escondo la muñeca = I hide the toy.

( La escondo = I hide it.

REFLEXIVE VERB: Action performed on self

Me escondo. ( I hide. (myself)

When a reflexive verb is in the infinitive form, attach the pronoun to the end of the infinitive, or the “whole verb.”

Voy a esconderme. I am going to hide (myself).

Vamos a pelearnos por el cuaderno. We are going to fight over the notebook.
