Parts of exam

• Exam covers Units 1-8

• Multiple choice (150 questions) (60%)

• Written - (20%) You must do 1 of 2 essays . You will not know until the day of the exam which you will be assigned. Possible topics are: a) Writing about your ideal vacation. Tell where you’d like to go and when. Include with whom you’d like to go and where you will stay. Also, include what you would like to do while there, what you will eat. Finally tell what you like best about your vacation (Unit 8-2) or b) Describe a typical day for yourself, family, and friends. Write about your morning routine, about what you do at school and after school. Finally write about the things you do to prepare for bed and include the time you do these things (Unit 8-1) All written responses must be at least 8 sentences in length. All students will have the same written topic.

• Oral exam – (20%) Will take place on Tuesday, June 8, 2010. You must prepare both topics and 1 will be selected that day. Possible topics are: a) Talking about staying healthy and parts of the body. Tell what you do to stay healthy, mentioning food and exercise. Then say that you have injured some body part. Tell your friend that you are sick and why you did not go to school. Use the preterite tense at least 3 times (Unit 6-2) or b) Tell about the computer and its parts. Tell how you use the computer to communicate with friends. Tell about an email you sent to a friend that resulted in a mixed-up communication. Make sure you use the preterite tense at least 3 times (Unit 7-1). All orals must be the equivalent of 8 sentences in length. All students will have the same oral topic.

It is recommended that before the exam, you review vocabulary for each unit and review grammar points for each unit. Below is an outline of the grammar points. It is advisable that you fill in the outline in your own words on how various tenses are formed, etc.
