P.O. Box 19546, Minneapolis, MN 55419 PH: 952-996-Email: minnesotaspayneuterproject@How-to guide for rescuing stray and lost catsWe want to prevent cat colonies so we urge people to always act immediately when they see a stray cat or cats. Don’t assume it is someone’s pet. If you see a cat more than once, take action. If you can approach the cat, put it in a carrier and take it to a veterinary facility or humane society so that it can be scanned to see if it has a microchip. Note: Humane societies and animal care and control all have universal scanners so they can find any manufacturer’s microchip. If a veterinarian does not have a universal scanner, they may not even detect that there is a microchip. If it has a microchip, contact the microchip manufacturer to get contact information on the owner. If no microchip is found, take pictures of the cat and post them in the neighborhood within at least a ? mile area with your contact information while you are temporarily holding the cat. Also check Animal Humane Society’s Lost and Found website, Lost Cats of Minnesota Facebook page, and Pawboost for Lost and Found pets. If no one responds, send an email to Minnesota Spay/Neuter Project for help in getting the cat spayed or neutered. If you cannot adopt the cat, we can post on our Petfinder website to find a permanent home while you foster the cat.If you cannot approach the cat, contact Minnesota Spay/Neuter Project for guidance and equipment to trap and hold the cat or cats to get them spayed or neutered. We will provide traps, carriers and cages and instructions for trapping, transfer, and transport. You will need to trap and keep the cat in a cage and transfer it to carrier to bring it to a scheduled appointment for spay or neuter which will include implanting a microchip and providing rabies and distemper combo vaccinations. You will need to keep the cat in a cage after the surgery during the recovery period. ................
