Objective: Upon completion of the unit of instruction on special education, students should write a formal paper to evaluate and reflect on the models of instruction found in special education.

The paper is to be formally written and typed using double-spacing. It should be a minimum of 2 pages in length. First person references will be acceptable for this assignment. The paper will count as one test grade and will be included in the portfolio after evaluation by the teacher.

The following format is a guide for the paper:

1- Personal Philosophy of Special Education (1st impression to current without taking away from conclusion; you may base this on classroom studies/experiences, personal experiences)

2- Why Special Education is necessary (personal experiences, use legal statutes, interviews(mandatory) and observations (if you have been in an inclusion setting)

3- Benefits (reference all models/settings of special education, include how students (disabled/non-disabled), parents, teachers and schools benefit from special education; use classroom discussions, observations, interviews, etc.)

4- Conclusion
