Lesson: Best Day/Worst DayPurpose: Best Day/Worst Day is a discovery conversation that helps students identify what is “Most important to” them and “What others need to know and/or do to best support” them. Goals of this lesson:Students will identify at least 3 things that are “Most important to them”Students will identify at least 3 things that “Others need to know and/or do to best support them”Supplies:This lesson can be completed on this worksheet or by using large, white, flip chart paper and markers.Directions: Step 1: Think about your best day at school and/or work and your best weekend, from the time you wake up in the morning, until the time you go to sleep. Who is present? Where are you? What are you doing? What makes you feel happy and content? Are there any routines you need to follow? How is the pace of your day? Use your answers to these questions and complete the first table below.Step 2: Now, think about your worst day. What is happening on a day when everything seems to be going wrong? Is there anything missing from this kind of day? Write your answers in the table below. Step 3: After you complete the Best Day/Worst Day table, sort out what is “most important to you” and “what others need to know or can do to best support you in having a good day.”Table: 1 Best Day/Worst DayBest DayWorst DayFor example: “On a best day, I am working outside at the local county park and I am doing all my jobs well.”For example: “When my father is away working with the military, I can get depressed. Reminding me that he will be back soon or that I can Skype him soon helps me put it in perspective. Also, bringing something small of his with me to work helps me get through the day”Closing Round: Student can pair and share, or present to the class, one thing that is “most important to me” and one thing that “others should know or do to best support me.” Extend: Information identified under “Most important to” and “What others need to know and do to best support me” can be transferred onto the student’s person centered plan. ................
