Our Mission – Glorifying God by making disciples

of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.

SUNDAY WORSHIP SERVICES are at 9am and 11am. (Fifth Sundays are at 10am.) Our November sermon series is “Rebuilding: God’s Plan for Restoration!” Rebuilding takes time, patience and a collaborative effort. No one rebuilds alone. God wants to rebuild us and by rebuilding us God rebuilds the church. Nehemiah is claimed and called with others to rebuild the wall of Jerusalem, the holy city of God. In this series we will join Nehemiah and learn the principles of rebuilding by focusing on God’s plan for restoration.

BAPTISMS If you are interested in being baptized, please contact Ruth Baggett in the church office at 615-271-2600 or mckendreeinfo@.

REFRESH! is our mid-week gathering. We meet in the first floor chapel each Wednesday, 12:00-12:30pm. Our worship includes prayers, hymns, a message and Holy Communion. We invite you to attend!

WEDNESDAY NIGHT BIBLE STUDY Our Adult Bible Study meets at 6pm in the Pastor’s office. We are continuing our study entitled 6 Decisions That Will Change Your Life, by Tom Berlin. Everyone is welcome to join us!

UMW NEWS, PLEASE NOTE TIME CHANGE! The United Methodist Women will meet Saturday, November 14th at 1pm in the Community Room. We will be having the World Thank Offering program and selecting someone for the special membership pin. Please choose your favorite Thanksgiving story and be prepared to share it at the meeting. It can be a personal or family story, or one you have read or heard that has touched your heart.

We will be planning our Christmas meeting, as well. We are in need of a home that can host the Christmas program and brunch, for 20-25 women. Are any of you interested and willing to make your home available? The UMW ladies will provide the brunch. It would be greatly appreciated if you can be the hostess. Our meeting is planned for December 12. Please respond to Willodene Brodrick (wbrodrick@) as soon as you can so we can seek out other options if necessary. This is always a meaningful and fun meeting.

LIFE GROUP NOTE: The Savvy Savers Life Group will meet this Sunday in Fellowship Hall following the 9am worship service.

PRAYER WALK The Evangelism/Missions/Social Justice (E/M/SJ) Ministry Team will have the 4th Prayer Walk of this year on Sunday, November 29th (Fifth Sunday), following the 10am service. All the Ministry Teams have prepared their Ministry Action Plans for 2016, but prayers are needed in carrying out the plans. We need to be spiritually equipped as we journey into the new year. We are prepared through worship, scripture and fervent and daily prayer. The church needs to especially focus on our finances. Pray this will be a year we can pay all our apportionments. Please plan to stay following the church service for this last prayer walk of the year.

CHRISTMAS SHOEBOXES! JUST ONE MORE WEEK to get your shoebox ready, for our Missions project of Operation Christmas Child. Do you wonder just how much difference one shoebox of small gifts will make?

"My name is Stas, I'm 14-years-old. I'm in grade eight. This year I received a gift. I like to draw, but I always lost pencils. Because of this, I was upset that I could not draw. When I received a gift, there were 20 pencils, and all with erasers! By the way, with erasers, I also had problems. Even at school, the chemistry teacher said to bring our own calculator. I once took a small calculator from my stepfather, but he then yelled at me, and I no longer took his calculator. But then at the end of the school year, I have in my shoebox a calculator!" CENTRAL ASIA

Get your shoeboxes ready and purchase small gifts to fill them. Some nations have new restrictions on food coming into their countries, so DO NOT INCLUDE ANY FOOD/CANDY in your box, also NO LIQUID ITEMS. Suggestions for gifts include:

-- small toys – stuffed animal, doll, small musical instrument (harmonica or school flute), toy cars,

jump rope, yo-yo, ball

-- school supplies – pens, pencils, erasers, sharpeners, crayons, markers, paper, notepad, solar

calculator, picture books, coloring books

-- hygiene items – toothbrushes (NO TOOTHPASTE), bar soap, comb, brush, washcloths

-- clothing and accessories – socks, t-shirt, hats, sunglasses, hair clips, jewelry, watches

Include a donation of $7 in your box to help cover shipping costs. Begin now to pray for the child and family who will receive your box. Collection date is Sunday, November 22. A packing guide will be available on the tables in the front and back of the church on Sunday morning.

THANKSGIVING MEAL On Tuesday, November 24, we will be serving a Thanksgiving Meal for our displaced community. Although we have a meal every Tuesday at 11:30, called the 5&2 Gathering, we want this to be extra-special. We are in need of people who can help set up, serve the food to our guests, or help with clean up. If you’d like to help out, please contact Ruth Baggett in the church office (615-271-2600, mckendreeinfo@). ALL HELP IS GREATLY APPRECIATED!

CHRISTMAS EVE MEAL For the past two years McKendree has hosted a wonderful Christmas Eve Meal and celebration for the displaced in our community. The first year we served a scrumptious Christmas Dinner to around 150 folks; last year that number went up to 300 people AND we were also able to give each guest a gift bag with a hat, gloves, socks and candy. Cindy Ligon is seeking a team of servants to join her in planning another extraordinary day of giving. If you have a knack for event planning, are masterful at leading volunteers, or just have a heart for serving others, please let Cindy know (mckendreecindy@).
