The AWS spectrum presents a unique set of issues in that the U.S. is not allocating the 1.9/2.1 GHz spectrum used in the rest of the world for W-CDMA (3G). This is not dissimilar to the situation which occurred when the U.S. auctioned PCS spectrum at 1900 MHz in the 1990s – rather than 1800 MHz which was allocated in the rest of the world. ................
