This newsletter provides information about LIFT meetings, SENCO surgeries and upcoming training which we hope you will find useful. Please don’t hesitate to contact Catherine Allison if you have any questions or suggestions for items that could be included in future newsletters.LIFT meetings and SurgeriesA Speech and Language Therapist will attend each LIFT group every other term (i.e. three times a year) and will provide additional support for each district as described below. Please note that this is based on feedback from individual districts and therefore what is offered differs from district to district.Maidstone and Tonbridge and Malling districtsEach time a Speech and Language Therapist attends a LIFT meeting, the therapist will lead an ‘Extended LIFT’. This will be a group discussion where settings will be able to ask questions and seek advice regarding potential referrals, children already known to the service, queries about the service and strategies for supporting children in the setting. If you would like to discuss a child who is already known to our team, please email Catherine before the given deadline so that the therapist can gather information about the child before the meeting. Unfortunately we are not able to discuss the specific details of children known to our service if we have not been provided with the name by the deadline as the therapist attending the LIFT is unlikely to be familiar with the case and will not be able to access our notes system during the meeting.Tunbridge Wells and Sevenoaks DistrictsFor terms where a Speech and Language Therapist is not attending the LIFT meeting, SENCOs will be able to book a slot at a SENCO Surgery by completing and submitting the SENCO surgery form (attached to email) by the given deadline. The Surgery will provide an opportunity to discuss how best to support specific children in your setting (please see booking form for more information). The table below details when a Speech and Language Therapist will attend the LIFT meetings in your district and the dates of any SENCO Surgeries in Terms Three and Four.DistrictGroupSLT at LIFTSENCO SurgeryDeadline for submissions for Extended LIFT/SurgeryMaidstoneLIFT 114.06.2018Catherine AllisonN/A06.06.2018LIFT 219.06.2018Catherine Allison11.06.2018LIFT 302.07.2018Catherine Allison25.06.2018SevenoaksEdenbridge24.04.2018Catherine Allison9:00-16:0020.06.2018Tonbridge Cottage Hospital06.06.2018Sevenoaks01.05.2018Catherine AllisonTonbridge and MallingTonbridge21.06.2018Catherine AllisonN/A13.06.2018Malling 125.06.2018Catherine Allison13.06.2018Malling 203.07.2018Catherine Allison26.06.2018Tunbridge WellsCranbrook and Paddock Wood26.04.2018Catherine Allison9:00-16:0020.06.2018Tonbridge Cottage Hospital06.06.2018Tunbridge Wells 103.05.2018Victoria FarrellTunbridge Wells 210.05.2018Catherine AllisonUpcoming TrainingThere are a range of training courses available to help you support children with various speech, language and communication needs. If you would like to discuss purchasing additional support for your setting (e.g. training, direct intervention with children) please contact Maria-Loukia (see Contacts). We know that some settings have grouped together to purchase training packages, so if you would be interested in this do discuss it with other settings in your LIFT group.Speech Sound Development Norms ChartAs requested by some LIFT groups, I have attached our current Speech Sound Developmental Norms Chart. We are still receiving some referrals with our previous chart, so please do ensure you use the most up-to-date version when completing referrals. All of our referral documents (including this Speech Sound Developmental Norm Chart) were sent out via email by STLS at the beginning of the academic year so please do ensure you have a copy of them in your setting.Contact DetailsThe West Kent Early Years’ Speech and Language Therapy team are based at:Heathside CentreTonbridge Cottage HospitalHeath RoadVauxhall LaneCoxheathTonbridgeME17 4AHTN11 0NETel: 01622 742326Tel: 01732 376814If you have any queries regarding the Early Years’ Speech and Language Therapy team, please contact:Catherine Allison (Early Years’ Team Co-ordinator): catherine.allison@Maria-Loukia Bratsou (Locality Clinical Manager): marialoukia.bratsou@ ................
