Example 1

Find studies that examine the underlying psychological variables relevant to a sundamage preventive behavior and sunscreen use.

1. Type "sunscreen use and behavior" 2. Click on "Health Psychology" to refine your results.

Example 2

Find studies on the relationships between dietary factors and stress that have been recently published in the Annals of Behavioral Medicine.

1. Click on "Advanced Search" 2. Type "stress and diet" in the search box 3. Type "Annals of Behavioral Medicine" in the Publication (citation) box. 4. Select "By Most Recently Published First".

Example 3

You know that the concept of Functional Analytic Psychotherapy (FAP) supervision has been referred to by Tsai in the context of therapist self-development, but are not sure of the title of the book.

1. Click on "Advanced Search" 2. Type "FAP supervision" (including quotes for exact phrase search). 3. Type "Tsai" in the Author field 4. Select "Books only" from the content type menu.

Example 1

You are looking for studies on the differences in modulation in the emotion processing regions of the brain following administration of noradrenergic and/or serotonergic antidepressants. Particularly you're looking for the kind of differential modulation exerted by antidepressants on the brain's alpha-1 adrenoceptor subtypes. You're only interested in articles published in the last 6 months

1. Type "effect of antidepressants on differential modulation of alpha-1 adrenoceptor subtypes"

2. From the search tab, click on "SpringerLink date" and choose "In the last 6 months".

Example 2

Find journal articles that describe the simultaneous detection of influenza virus type B and influenza A virus subtypes H1N1, H3N2, and H5N1 using multiplex real-time RT-PCR.

1. Type "H1N1 and H3N2 and H5N1 and simultaneous detection of influenza virus type B" 2. In the Search Tab, under "Content Type" select "Journals".

Show the phylogenic tree for Acidobacteria from Bergey's Manual of Systematic Bacteriology.

Acidobacteria, Fibrobacteres, Fusobacteria, Dictyoglomi, Gemmatimonadetes, Lentisphaerae, Verrucomicrobia, Chlamydiae, and Planctomycetes" 4. Scroll down using the contents menu until you find "Phylum XVII. Acidobacteria phyl. nov.". Click on the link. 5. Show Figure 117, the phylogenic tree for Acidobacteria based on the 16S ribosomal RNA gene.
