Test Case: Import From SQL File

Introduction

This Test Case tests importing and generating a diagram from a SQL file. A test file that comes with the test cases can be found in project’s bin directory.

Flow of Events

1. Click on File/Import Schema on The Menu

R. The system brings up the following dialog box:

2. Select Import from SQL File and Click on Next Button.

R. The system displays the following dialog box:

3. Type in the File Name the full path to the file you want to import. For example: C:\My Documents\work\cs327\project\jdbv\bin\testMoreConnections2.sql and click on the Next Button.

R. The system creates a new untitled diagram.

The diagram is empty.

Table list is populated with tables from the SQL file.

All tables are unchecked.

The status message says: “The schema imported successfully”.

Under File menu options Save, Save As, Close, and Print became enabled.

Under Edit menu Auto Arrange option is enabled and unchecked.

Under Diagram menu option, all options are enabled.

Alternative Flow of Events

1. Click on the icon with bank paper on the toolbar.

2.1 Click on the Cancel Button.

R: The system closes the dialog box and there are no changes in DbViz compared to before attempting the import from file.

3.1 Click on the File button.

R. The system displays a dialog for selecting a file.

3.1.2 Select testMoreConnection2.sql and clink on Open button

R. The system fills in File Name on the previous dialog box.

3.2 Leave file name blank and click on Next button.

R: The system displays error message saying that says: “Please Select a Valid Value”

3.2.1 Click on OK.

3.3 Click on Cancel button.

R: The system closes the dialog box and there are no changes in DbViz compared to before attempting the import from file.

3.4 Click on Back Button.

R: The system displays the dialog from step 2.

3.5 Type in the File Name: C:\My Documents\work\cs327\project\jdbv\bin\FDC2.sql and click on the Next Button. This is a file that contains invalid SQL file.

R. The system displays error message and no diagram is loaded.
