PURPOSE OF THE JOB
JOB SUMMARY:
Oversee the administration of the Hospital's associate benefit plans to include: health and welfare, Paid Time Off (PTO/ETO), Education Reimbursement, etc. Manage, maintain, and develop all plans in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations and the policies of St. Francis Hospital.
JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Administer the daily, monthly, and annual requirements of the employee Health and Welfare benefit plans; to include plan updates and the management of benefit premiums.
Plan and administer policies relating to all phases of benefit activity. Identify legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting benefit functions and ensure policies, procedures, and reporting are in compliance.
Develop and maintain strong working knowledge of the administration, design and financial aspects of employee benefits programs.
Assist the Third Party Administrator (TPA) with benefit claims and escalated issues. Manage the funding cost and funds distribution for all plans and benefit programs. Provide education to associates on benefit plans. Conduct new hire benefits orientation providing employees with
thorough information on their benefit options. Respond to administrative and policy questions. Work with outside legal counsel, actuaries, and trustees on plan issues and changes. Ensure ongoing employee communications such as summary plan descriptions, summary annual reports, Benefits
Bulletin, targeted mailings, etc. Identify, suggest and implement ongoing process improvements. Maintain an up-to-date knowledge base of current trends and practices relevant to employee benefits. Other duties as assigned or required.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Education: High School Diploma or completion of GED. Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Human Resource Management, or related field is preferred.
Minimum Work Experience:
Two (2) years of experience developing, maintaining, and/or managing employee benefit plans.
License(s) / Certification(s): Professional in Human Resources (PHR) is preferred. Certified Benefits Professional (CBP) is preferred.
Knowledge of the Americans with Disabilities Act.
Knowledge of the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA).
Knowledge of Worker Compensation laws and governing regulations.
Knowledge of all applicable federal and state laws governing employee benefit plans.
Proficiency using a Personal Computer (PC) with a strong understanding of Microsoft Word and Excel.
General knowledge of Human Resource Management.
Organizational skills and the ability to maintain complex information in a logical manner.
Knowledge, Skill, and Abilities: Analytical skills and the ability to be detail oriented.
Strong mathematical skills and the ability to utilize moderately complex computation formulas.
Strong communication skills and the ability to communicate both verbally and in writing effectively.
Interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate to persons at all levels in and outside of the organization.
Ability to maintain a well-rounded knowledge of applicable trends in employee benefits, and regulatory guidelines.
Ability to communicate effectively with persons of varying types of personalities.
