Medical Leadership:

2019-Present Chief Medical Officer, Easterseals Michigan, Auburn Hills, MI – oversaw and facilitated the activities of medical staff at a non-profit organization with 14 locations that provides a variety of services including rehabilitation for physical and mental disabilities, psychiatry, psychotherapy, case management, suicide prevention, assertive community treatment for serious mental illness, medication assisted treatments for substance use disorders, autism programs, community mental health and jail mental health care; provided consultation and clinical leadership for 30 physicians/nurse practitioners/physician assistants and a practice manager in Michigan’s largest mental health provider with over 13,500 individuals served a year; monitored and improved the medical quality and safety of individuals served, developed and implemented departmental goals and strategies for quality psychiatric care to ensure effective delivery of medical services and compliance with local/state/federal laws, worked closely with the CEO and senior leadership to develop and implement clinical strategies across the organization, interpreted policy and implemented strategic plans and operating plans, interfaced with officials and regulatory authorities, interfaced with external/ internal customers, set broad policies and objectives, and negotiated clinical/educational/grant partnerships with other organizations; helped improve various quality measures to become #1 in highest number of improved patients in controlling blood pressure and #3 in depression screening and follow up among the 14,702 active providers monitored by Great Lakes Practice Transformation Network.

2015-2017 Medical Director, 88th Mental Health Flight, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base Medical Center, OH – led clinical operations for >160 clinical staff providing services including outpatient clinical and occupational mental health, hospital consultation & liaison, alcohol and drug abuse prevention and treatment, and family advocacy (e.g., prevention and treatment of victims and offenders of child abuse/neglect and domestic violence) for over 58,000 eligible beneficiaries; coordinated medical care for active/retired military service members and their families in the USAF’s largest medical squadron; served on hospital executive committee, on active duty suicide evaluation team, as deployment-related health assessment provider consultant, and as command-directed evaluation (fitness for duty) coordinator; responsible for quality assurance/improvement, enforcing patient care rules/regulations, credentialing, peer review, referral triage policies, pharmacy formulary recommendations, facilitating aeromedical evacuations, high risk patient tracking, determining care capabilities for mentally ill family members, clinical research, hospital staff mental health training, and psychiatric consultation to the medical center and commanders at 23 bases across 8 states (containing the National Air and Space Intelligence Center, the Air Force Institute of Technology, and the Air Force School of Aerospace Medicine); helped establish an intensive outpatient program, tele-psychiatry programs for remote bases, negotiate an improved VA partnership, integrate mental health in 5 primary care clinics, created an emergency/on-call manual saving >200 man-hours/year, standardized clinical notes/risk assessment forms, and wrote clinic policies for hypertension screening, injectable medications, and unused medication disposal; improved follow up time by 12% to become #1/64 USAF mental health clinic, #1/64 in specialty evaluations, #1/64 in acute psychiatric medication management, and #1/76 USAF medical facility for patient satisfaction, and vital to Group’s 5-Star CS Title, Commander’s Inspection Program “effective,” and Joint Commission 3-year reaccreditation.

2014-2017 Competent Medical Authority, Personnel Reliability/Presidential Support Programs, WPAFB, OH – evaluated the mental health of military/civilian personnel to determine qualification, disqualification, certification and decertification for duties involving nuclear or biological material, or regular access to the President or Vice President of the US.

2014-2016 Medical Review Officer, Drug Demand Reduction Program, WPAFB, OH – assessed and advised commanders about random and reasonable suspicion drug testing for military/civilian personnel at the world’s largest Air Force base (>6000 samples/year).
