HOLY FAMILY TO HOST THE JUBILEE OF EIGHTEEN CAPUCHINS AUGUST 1

Milwaukee, WI (July 16, 2008) …Holy Family Parish, Fond du Lac, will be hosting the jubilee celebration of eighteen Capuchin friars on August 1.

Anniversaries that will be celebrated include two friars marking 65 years in the Capuchin order. Five friars will be marking 60 years; nine friars will be celebrating their 50 year jubilee and two will be celebrating their 25th year in the order.

The following day, six friars will be taking their first profession of vows at the chapel of St. Lawrence Seminary High School. Five of the professing friars attended St. Lawrence Seminary High School.

The Capuchins are an international community of friars modeling themselves after St. Francis of Assisi. The brothers of the Capuchin Province of St. Joseph, headquartered in Detroit, serve in a variety of ministries including social service, schools, chaplaincy, retreat houses and parishes in Michigan, Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Montana, Minnesota, New Mexico, Arizona, California, Nicaragua, and Panama. Established at Mt. Calvary Wisconsin in 1857, there are currently 184 members in the St. Joseph province.
