The Early Childhood Council of Hillsborough County, Inc. Community Resources Guide

The Early Childhood Council of Hillsborough County, Inc. (ECC) is pleased to provide this resource guide as part of an effort to provide information about supports & services in our community. Each program listed provides serves children from birth to age 8 and their families in Hillsborough County. Most services are provided free or at low cost to families.

The Early Childhood Council was founded in 1983 to increase community awareness and access to services for young children with special needs. Today, ECC continues its rich tradition of advocacy, education, and innovation on behalf of all children. With representation from over 40 human service organizations as well as families, ECC members work together in a variety of activities and programs to help ensure the optimal development, health, and wellness of children in Hillsborough County.

Program Description: Alpha House provides a maternity based comprehensive residential program for up to 23 pregnant women and foster care teens and a transitional housing program for 16 homeless women who are newly parenting. Alpha House of Tampa's maternity home is the only licensed maternity home in Hillsborough County. We have an on-site Parents as Teachers Program, Case Management, Counseling, and Alpha Academy focused on literacy and life skills.

Population Served: Homeless pregnant and parenting women and their children.

Referral Process: Call or visit website for an application. Intake appointments will be scheduled with each client.
