St. Louis University Students “Make a Difference” at Woerner Elementary

Saturday, October 23, was a big day at Woerner Elementary. In addition to hosting its eighth annual Fall Festival, 150 enthusiastic St. Louis University student volunteers reported for duty to beautify the school grounds. The perimeter fence, measuring over 93,000 square feet, was long overdue for a paint job. Principal Peggy Meyer was elated when she received an email from SLU about their “Make A Difference Day” program. She told them how desperately the fence needed painting, and as a result four busses brimming with eager painters arrived on Woerner’s parking lot to tackle the massive project.

The St. Louis Public Schools Foundation generously provided brushes and paint trays for each worker. Jeff Faust from Environmental Consultants was on hand to supervise and lend a hand. Mrs. Meyer stated, “Everyone helped make the fence painting project a success!  It was definitely a group effort and it paid off!  Our school yard looks great!”
