How To Use A Graphing Calculator

Y= editor: enter equation to be graphed

• Equation must be in slope-intercept form

o [pic]

• Type in equation using letter key for x (located below mode)

o -or- use then hit appropriate letter

• To graph more than one line:

o Enter first equation into [pic] and second equation into [pic], etc.

• To change the type of the line to be graphed:

o Scroll to the left past [pic] and press enter

▪ Change to bold line, dotted line, and use to shade

GRAPH: creates graph of line

ZOOM: changes view of graph

• Zoom standard: looks at graph with intervals of 1

• Zoom In: pick a point by moving cursor to zoom in on area

WINDOW: changes intervals of x-axis and y-axis on graph

• Xmin: minimum value on x-axis

• Xmax: maximum value on x-axis

• Xscl: Interval of axis

• Same applies for y-axis

TRACE: allows you to find points on the line/graph and zoom in on point

• Move cursor to right or left to choose point

• Hit enter to zoom in on area with point

TABLE: allows you to see x-values and y-values in table format

• Use then graph to obtain table

TBLSET: Table Setup

• Use then format to obtain table set up



• TblStart: choose value of x you would like to start with in table

• [pic]Tbl: Change interval of x-values

• Input x-values to obtain y-values
