Enemies in this game include Alma, a rolling armadillo-like creature that constantly pursues the protagonist and a moving gorgon head that spews lasers, aptly called Don Medusa. Each stage in this game is a room of a massive tower in which the protagonist must collect pink blocks engraved with hearts in order to unlock a treasure chest containing the magic pearl used to proceed to the next floor. A truly terrible Artoon game butchered the stealth-action genre in a game titled for their “rain.” Two of these appear as small girls in Hugo's House of Horrors, while one of them named Kagan is pursued by his daughter in another series. One character belonging to this race is Alucard from the Castlevania series, while the protagonist of BloodRayne is half human and half this creature. 5) When the flute item is used in this game, the melody it plays is the first measure of the starting gameplay music in the game Déjà Vu. At one point in this game, a vicious dog will appear after picking up a horn on the ground and can be avoided by splashing the hound with water. Another area in this game features rows of sarcophagi containing a mummy that can be destroyed with fire and a wave of caustic slime that dissolves the player. Along the way, the player will learn various spells such as HUMANA to become invisible and another which allows the player to control rope, EPOR. One quirk of the gameplay involves constantly keeping torches lit so that the player does not ‘stumble in the dark and break his neck’. The most popular game of the MacVenture series, FTP, name this 1987 fantasy point-and-click adventure game in which you must traverse the title castle.

She can be unlocked as a playable character by completing the game on ‘Adult Mode’ and has the ability to use the Replay command which allows the repetition of any action three times dealing triple damage and surrounding her in electric sparks. 7) Power-ups in this game include the ability to shoot rings of fire which in addition to incinerating enemies can be used to push objects to solve puzzles as well as large crystal shards that drop several weapon upgrades. Hazards in this game include water droplets on the roofs of caverns that can crush the player and toads that use their long tongues to eat the protagonist. At the beginning of this game, a dark crystal crashes into the Earth causing pollution and corruption and as a response the Earth’s Life Crystal bestows its power on the title character. This game’s health bar is shown only when damaged and takes the appearance of four smaller versions of the main character floating around the character sprite and can be replenished in game by drinking the nectar from a pollen-filled flower. Developed by Ecco the Dolphin creators, Novotrade, FTP, identify this game heralded by Penny Arcade as “arguably the finest hummingbird-based shooter on the Sega 32X”.

8) In Neo Geo Battle Coliseum, the characters Yuki and Ai can combine and transform into a character from this game. A sequel to this game was subtitled “The Next Thing” and had the playable characters from the first game teaming up in a side-scrolling adventure to stop such enemies as a scorpion with a detachable brain and Lavicus, a snake-like creature that lays eggs from its forehead. The stages in this game are confined by a large electrical barrier and are notable for having everything able to be destroyed – from tanks to helicopters to buildings. Playable characters from the original game include Astro Guy who looks similarly to Ultraman, Woo who is a giant gorilla and Geon, a blatant Godzilla rip-off. With many of the levels taking place in various Japanese cities, FTP, identify this classic arcade game by SNK that pits several classic giant movie monsters against each other.

9) [BC] Manipulation of the numbers and species of plants as well as land composition serve to entice characters to visit and sometimes stay, while new diets can result in color or evolutionary changes. The player can hire assistants such as Gatherlings from Arfur's Inn in order to help them out and Professor Pester and his minions can either be paid to not bother you or can be banned by buying the Captain's Cutlass from Ivor Bargains. Once residents have had their romance requirements fulfilled, which always include a unique house, a mating mini-game is enacted and an egg is delivered. The food chain in this game is called the "Doughnut of Life" although characters which are killed or eaten only actually lose their resident status and reassemble in the wilds outside the garden, with their brightly colored innards being eaten by the other residents.  A sandbox life-sim developed by Rare, FTP, identify this game developed for the 360 staring paper candy-filled animals.

10) In the third game in this series, Wario appears via telepathic wormhole and he uses the protagonist as a throwing item to obtain four blue gems, while the protagonist himself makes a cameo in Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga on a poster in Yoshi Theatre. The story in the first game involves the title character knocking over a jar while cleaning furniture in Tenkai Palace releasing the evil being Ogura. Supporting characters in this series include the loud-mouthed and cowardly Kyorosuke who is in love with the gentle HadeHirari who is a zebra turkeyfish. The game can be saved by speaking to mermaids that can be found by bumping into purple clams and the main character can attack by spinning around at a high speed. Often described as an underwater platformer, FTP, identify this Japan-only handheld series of games by Nintendo in which you play as an adorable starfish-like creature.

12) In one game, this character realizes during meditation that if he were to give in to his hatred he would be no better than his enemy, Oda Nobunaga while in another game he befriends the scientist, Doctor Boskonovitch and agrees to avenge the doctor after his lab was destroyed by the cyborg, Bryan Fury. In this character’s first appearance, he enters a fighting competition as a distraction so that his clan could steal the tournament funds, but then becomes enraged at a corrupt sumo wrestler named Ganryu who he then kills. 13) In the sequel to this game, the protagonists have the option of remodeling their homes in Kali Village with flowers and curtains in order to attract a wife and eventually kids. In the original game, the player can accumulate health recovery fruits by jumping on an enemy-thrown boulder three times. The final boss is a mischievous imp called the Sick Devil who at one point tricks the players by having them kissed by an attractive woman only for him to change into a more powerful form. Stages in this game include an ice level in which you battle a woolly mammoth whose trunk and ears fall off as it takes damage and a volcano stage in which the boss is a bouncing and rolling Ankylosaurus. With the second game having the title characters “Lost in the Tropics”, FTP, identify this game by DataEast in which the titlular blue and green-haired caveman ninjas attempt to rescue their women.

14) In a 6-in-1 cartridge released by the Taiwanese developer Caltron, a game titled Adam and Eve in which all enemies are snakes has almost identical gameplay to this game. A DS sequel to this game was released to Platinum Members of the Nintendo Club in 2007 and stars Tingle from the Zelda games. In Warioware: Smooth Moves, an unlockable minigame recreates this game in a behind-the-back 3D view and uses the Nunchuk and Wiimote to flap the character’s arms to stay aloft. The giant fish enemy from this game appears in the Summit stage of Super Smash Bros. Brawl while the normal enemies from this game look like the blue and red overalled main protagonist with pointy-nosed masks. In addition to the main game, the ‘Trip Mode’ of this game involves maneuvering the protagonist through a side-scrolling field of electrical sparks. 15) A poorly received spin-off of this series for the PS2 was actually a remake of this series’ predecessor and was subtitled Quest for the Dragon Bone Staff. Purchasing the Mage Guild in this game allowed characters to increase their arsenal of spells while building the Castle bolsters town fortifications and increases creature production. A notable creature in the second game of this series the uber-unbalanced which grows in number for each monster it kills while powerful recurring creatures include the lightning-bolt throwing Titans, Unicorns with the ability to blind opponents and the Black Dragon which is immune to all spells. Though this series’ gameplay is based on its 1990 spiritual ancestor, King’s Bounty, its name comes from another series that its developer created.
