Announcement of Quorum Call to Order/Welcome: John Lawton, Secretary, called the roll and announced a quorum was met. Steve Mocco, State Chairman, called the meeting to order at 8:05 PM EDT.Chairman’s Announcements - Conference Call EtiquetteSteve Mocco appointed Rick Dozier to serve as Parliamentarian for this meeting.Financial Report by Treasurer – Although Bryan Davis was absent from the meeting, Rick Dozier reported that Mr. Davis told him that we are $7- 8,000 in the positive.Old Business:Approval of Meeting Minutes – November 28, 2016; February 13, 2017; March 13, 2017; March 27, 2017; May 17, 2017 John Lawton made a motion, 2nd by Larry Wohlabaugh, to approve the Meeting Minutes of November 28, 2016; February 13, 2017; March 13, 2017; March 27, 2017 and May 17, 2017 as they are posted on the FAWA web site. The motion was passed without objection.2016 FAWA Tax Report – Rick Dozier reported that Mr. Davis had told him that the Federal Income Tax had been filed with the IRS and that he filed an application with the State of Florida to renew our licence for the Solicitation of Charitable Contributions.Membership Report – Steve Mocco reported numbers are down across the board for Athlete cards, (3,421 from 4,505) Coaches cards (248 from 292), Club Charters (115 from 153) and Event sanctions (53 from 87). Officials are about the same (54 from 55).Quorum Numbers for Area Meetings - John Lawton volunteered to come up with Quorum numbers and list of eligible voters for each Area starting with the Northwest Area which meets this weekend.National Team Trip ReportsSE Regionals – Steve Mocco reported that Team Florida had 211 entries, 2nd biggest team there. We also had 25 champions and it was a fun tripSchoolboy Duals – Brian Abdon reported that everything went smooth but we did not have a full lineup costing us to forfeit at least 3-4 bouts in every dual. The team won the Red and Blue Division. There were three wrestlers in Greco and one in Freestyle who made the All-Tournament Team.Cadet Duals – Humberto Reyna, Team Leader was not present so there was no report.Junior Duals – The Team Leader was not present, so there was no report. Stuart Mahler indicated that he resigned as Team Leader on June 7, several weeks before the trip left for Tulsa.Kids Nationals – Steve Mocco reported that Team Florida had 52 athletes compete in Freestyle and 47 in Greco. We had 6 national champs and 20 All Americans.Fargo – Bill Crum, Team Leader was not present so there was no report. Steve Mocco reported that Florida was represented at all the meetings for State Leaders.National Team Uniform Issue – Steve Mocco reported that FAWA had received a Certified Letter, dated June 22, 2017, from attorney Nadya Davis of Holland & Hart representing Anheuser-Busch for unauthorized use of Wedgehead Logo on youth wrestling apparel. The letter was sent to Brian Abdon, Team Florida Leader, at the Lake City address of FAWA. As a response to the letter, Mocco said the girls had to make do with what uniforms we had. He indicated that Nearfall maker of the uniform design, had received no notice of this situation. Further, to comply with the request, we cancelled the purchase of 22 articles of clothing.New Business:Sanctioning of Events - Rick Dozier: Steve Mocco reported the takedown tourney he held at his Club was sanctioned by USA Wrestling. However, he said that he did offer to allow some non-wrestlers who worked out at the Club in other sports to participate in the wrestling event to try out the sport. Further, it was reported that FAWA’s Father Devine National Team Qualifier and the State Championships for Freestyle and Greco-Roman tournaments were not sanctioned by USA Wrestling. There was some question as to who has the responsibility to ensure that these FAWA events are sanctioned by USA Wrestling.Area Meetings & Dates are as follows: NW - August 12 – 11 AM, Fairfield Inn, 538 SW Corporate Dr., Lake City 32024NE – August 19 – 10 AM, Starbucks, 8635 Blanding Blvd., Jacksonville, 32244 South - August 30, 6:30 PM, Miami Coral Park, 8865 SW 16th St., Miami 33165d. Central – August 13, 4 PM, Tampa Prep 727 W Cass St., Tampa 33606e. Southwest – August 26, 1 PM, El Primo Pizza, 15275 Collier Blvd., Naples FL 3- Annual Meeting Date: September 30 Larry Wohlabaugh made a motion, 2nd by John Lawton, to hold the Annual Meeting on September 30, at 9 am at Osceola High School, Kissimmee, FL. The motion was passed without objections.Pre-Season Festival: September 29 - October 1Larry Wohlabaugh make a motion, 2nd by Brian Abdon, to have a takedown tournament in conjunction with the Annual Meeting as long as the Annual Meeting is in a separate location. The motion passed 6 Ayes vs 5 Nays with 1 abstention.Meeting Adjournment - Larry Wohlabaugh made a motion, 2nd by Stuart Mahler to adjourn the meeting.
