HILTON ANAHEIM APPOINTS CARLOS ACOSTA TO HELM F&B OPERATIONS AS HOTEL’S MULTI-MILLION DOLLAR MAKEOVER CONTINUES

Acosta Named “2008 Food & Beverage Director of the Year”

July 22, 2008 – ANAHEIM, Calif. – The Hilton Anaheim has announced the appointment of Carlos Acosta to the position of director of food & beverage. Acosta joins the Hilton Anaheim from the historic Mission Inn in Riverside, Calif., and was recently named “2008 Food & Beverage Director of the Year” by the Southern California Restaurant Writers Association. As the Hilton Anaheim completes an extensive renovation in the coming months, Acosta will oversee the development of new dining establishments and lead the culinary and banquet services teams to new levels of quality and innovation.

“I am extremely excited to have Carlos join the Hilton Anaheim and feel it’s a testament to the significant momentum we have built over the past year as we renovate not only our physical property but also the way we operate as a hotel,” said Harold Rapoza, general manager. “I am confident that Carlos’ expertise and careful leadership will help ensure a successful launch of our new dining and lounge concepts.”

The Hilton Anaheim is Orange County’s largest hotel, with 1,572 guestrooms and 100,000 square feet of meeting space. Current F&B offerings include a popular Starbucks Marketplace; a full-service restaurant, Café Oasis; and the Avenue Lounge. When the renovation is complete, Café Oasis and the Avenue will be replaced by The OC Mix, a brand-new full-service restaurant with adjacent lobby bar.

Acosta will bring significant experience to the operation, having most recently served as director of food & beverage for the historic Mission Inn Hotel & Spa in Riverside, where he launched Bella Trattoria Italian Bistro, re-opened The Mission Inn Restaurant with a new open-kitchen concept and opened a second outpost of the hotel’s Las Campanas Mexican restaurant. Prior to that, he spent six years working for The Disneyland Resort, where he managed F&B operations at the Disneyland Hotel as well as banquets and special events for the overall resort. While at the resort, he was selected to participate on a task force for the planning and execution of events for the grand opening of the Tokyo Disney Seas in Japan.

Acosta also gained significant experience during the 1990s while working at several hotels in Hawaii, including serving as food & beverage director at the Outrigger Wailea Resort (Maui) and the Kea Lani Hotel (Maui). During this time he was selected by Aston and Outrigger hotels to be part of a task force focused on setting up F&B operations for various hotels in Bali, Jakarta, Guam and Tahiti. Prior to that, he spent several years working on the island of Lanai for the Lodge at Koele and the Manele Bay Hotel.
