Travelodge- Melksham – 15 January 2019

Overall, a good value choice, if limited as regards dining options...

Perhaps it’s best to begin this review by going directly to the summary, in which case, if you happen to be in or around Melksham with your own transport, seeking a clean functional room at a value added rate, then the Travelodge, Melksham, may well fit the bill.

To add context to the above, I was in Melksham for just the one night and two day’s in mid January 2019, this on a visit to the Herman Miller factory just around the corner from the Travelodge.

Herman Miller, a maker of rather fine if not iconic office furniture, especially chairs rather dominate the landscape such is its size and influence within the area, so a booking of this kind would not have been unusual for the Travelodge.

In which case, having already theoretically recommended this particular Travelodge, what’s left of note to say about it?

Let’s start with the obvious – Location.

Put simply, there is really nothing there bar a Greggs, Starbucks and a Pub, the Milk Churn, which was perhaps it’s one saving grace as that’s where I enjoyed both dinner and a very pleasant breakfast the following morning.

For accuracy sake, I took some notes whilst there which I’ll relay verbatim.

My Room. Clean, tidy, organised, functional and completely anonymous.

Crap excuse for Brekkie, £5.25 (ergo going to the Milk Churn). Nearly double the price but very tasty.

Tiny bathroom, small shower, so if you’re a larger person, take note!

Very thin walls, all noise audible.

And then we get to the price folk's. £47.00 plus a further £3.00 for Wifi.

Which actually makes this one of the easier reviews to compose and complete, if only because the USP or raison d’être of this Travelodge is that it represents a veritable bargain, especially for the business traveller.

In which case, if seeking cheap, clean accommodation when necessarily in the area, then why not pop in and see if the Travelodge, Melksham suits.

However, should you seek more from your accommodation, no matter how temporary, then you may need to look elsewhere.

As always, happy and safe travelling.

Phil
