[Pages:4]Congratulations!

Your middle school has been selected to participate in the 2018 Neighborhood Pride Talent Search! 2018 celebrates the 13th year of this exciting, rewarding program offered only to the select Middle Schools related to a Neighborhood Pride area. The Neighborhood Pride Talent Search was developed in 2006 to engage Middle School students in their neighborhoods and the Columbus arts community at large.

What does my school need to do to participate?

1. Choose a date for auditions. We like to have auditions during lunch so all students can participate.

2. Choose a location (auditorium, lunchroom, or classroom) to hold auditions. 3. Tell students. We will be happy to help with morning announcements or come to a

lunch to present to the students.

What does the student need to do to participate?

Students must be prepared to give a 2 minute audition to our panel of judges. We are looking for students who are gifted in Music, Comedy, Motivational Speaking,

Acting, Dance, and Essay/ Poetry Spoken Word. At the audition, if they can bring their own music that would be appreciated, if not we

will try our best to find it online or have something similar.

How are the students selected?

Our panel of judges will score the students in these categories: Talent Stage Presence First Impression Knowledge of Material

The top 6 ? 10 acts will be selected to go to the next level.

What is the next level?

We will award the top 6-10 acts the day of auditions. These students will receive our contact information for their parents to call us and information about the first rehearsal. Students will be expected to attend a series of Saturday rehearsals at the Jerry Hammond Center downtown between November and December. At the rehearsals, the students will work with mentors on their final solo and group performances. In addition, we ask that the students be good citizens and give back five hours of community service. Details will be shared with the families.
