Slide notes

Rapidly changing markets require nimble responses from supply chain organizations in the context of launching new products. After deciding the product launch date, demand planners need to ensure that the right demand signals are generated considering the product launch date. With this update, Oracle Cloud Demand Management will honor the new launch date parameter available when you configure forecast profiles.

Slide 25 - Additional Information for Generate Forecast Starting from the Product Launch Date

[pic]

Slide notes

The Generate Forecast Starting from the Product Launch Date feature allows you to specify a future Launch Date for an Item and have the forecast for the item start on the Launch Date instead of at the beginning of the forecast horizon.

This feature introduces a new Launch Date measure that you can use to maintain the launch date for an item.

This feature also introduces a new Forecasting Parameter in Forecasting Profiles named LaunchDateMeasure. This gives you the flexibility to use the new Launch Date measure or your own user-defined measure as the launch date value to be used by the forecasting engine.

By default, no measure is selected for the LaunchDateMeasure Forecasting Parameter. This is true for the predefined Forecasting Profiles as well as any user-defined Forecasting Profiles. When no measure is selected, the forecast is generated for the entire forecast horizon.

The measure selected for this parameter must match the dimensions of the Output Measure selected in the Forecasting Profile with the exception of the time dimension.

The measure must also be enabled in the same work areas that are selected in the Forecasting Profile.

If the value of the launch date measure is null, then the forecast is generated for the entire forecast horizon.

The launch date is respected at the lowest level in the forecast tree. For example, if the lowest level in the forecast tree is item/organization then the forecast will start on the same launch date for all customers and demand classes within the same item/organization combination. If the launch date varies by customer or demand class within the same item/organization combination, then the earliest launch date will be used.

In order to be able to respect varying launch dates by a customer for the same item, you must configure a user-defined forecast tree with item/customer as the lowest level.

Note that a forecast tree can only contain two dimensions. So, you can have a forecast tree with item and organization or one with item and customer but not one with item, organization, and customer.
