City: Muncy

State: PA Zip Code: 17756

County: Lycoming

PLEASE PROVIDE A DESCRIPTION OF THE PUBLIC ACCESS TO THE DISPENSARY LOCATION, INCLUDING ANY LOCAL PUBLIC

The Muncy Township, Lycoming County, BrightCare Biomedics dispensary is located on a

River Valley Transit System route and is centrally located in Lycoming County. Lycoming

County also participates in the STEP program, offering on-demand transportation services for

residents of Lycoming and Clinton Counties, including door-to-door ride share services for

individuals on medical assistance, seniors citizens, and persons with disabilities. Uber, Lyft

and taxi services are available to this dispensary. Patients from all over the Williamsport

region, including Montoursville, Hughesville, Montgomery, Jersey Shore and Watsontown

will have convenient access to this dispensary because of its close proximity to major

highways like Route 15, Interstate 80, and Interstate 180. The facility is near the Lycoming

Mall and has its own parking lot providing ample parking including several handicapped

designated spots. Also, Lycoming Mall Drive is one of the most highly travel roads in the

region, based on local socioeconomic travel patterns being next to the only major Mall and

shopping district is critical to patient access as rural patient consumers and their caregivers

often travel to populated commercial and retail areas to access multiple resources.

The majority of people in Lycoming County and surrounding area travel to this popular shopping district for goods and services. The dispensary in Muncy Township will serve UPMC Susquehanna Muncy Valley Hospital, UPMC Divine Providence, UPMC Williamsport Regional Medical Center, as well as Family Practice Centers (FPC), a large family practice network in the region which maintains 30 outpatient primary care treatment centers. Since the UPMC merger with regional health care provider Susquehanna Health there has been a growth in specialized health care services for this community who previously required significant travel for specialized care. Aligning a dispensary within this budding health care hub will continue to drive care access and innovation within the greater Williamsport area and Lycoming County overall.

The population density within 10 miles of the Muncy Township dispensary is 87,604 and 187,380 within 20 miles and 357,962 within 30 miles. Moreover, this facility has a private rear entrance to allow for secure and private product deliveries and is not within 1,000 feet of any schools or daycares. Muncy Township is a superior location compared to others in Lycoming County because it is near all major highways and costs are substantially lower than in places like Williamsport where rents are double and in Loyalsock Township were rents are almost triple. BrightCare Biomedics successfully negotiated very favorable lease terms and will be able to immediately pass those savings onto the low income patient population of the region where many patients live at or near the poverty line. The region has been hit especially hard by the opioid crisis and by the massive loss of jobs due to the gas industry leaving. The need for alternatives to opioids is great and job opportunities are desperately needed.
