Licensure Supervision for Registered Clinical Social ...

Licensure Supervision for Registered Clinical Social Worker, Mental Health Counselor, Marriage & Family Therapy Interns

Frequently Asked Questions-

1. How do I register as an intern to begin accumulating supervision hours toward licensure?

Go to for the application, pay the fee, then I send a letter to the state (see Q #5 for more) stating that I would like to be your supervisor. Usually within 2 weeks of receipt, you will receive a card from the FL Dept. of Health with your registration #. When you receive this, we can begin supervision and you can begin accumulating hours!

2. When do you meet for supervision, exam preparation, and consultation sessions? This schedule is subject to change, and flexible according to your needs.

• See for details!

3. How much does supervision cost?

Supervision costs $40-$50/session. Payment can be made with Paypal, Visa, Mastercard, personal check, or cash. See website to order/submit electronic payments. You may decide to pay upfront for the 100 weeks in advance, locking in the rate of $40/session for the duration of supervision. This could save you money in the event that you need to stay in supervision for longer than 100 weeks (need to continue in supervision until you meet all clinical hours and you pass the licensure exam). You can also pay weekly, biweekly or monthly. Whatever is best for you is great!

4. How often will we meet?

The state requires 1 hr/supervision for (full-time) 15 hours of face-to-face psychotherapy with clients each week, or 1 hr/supervision biweekly for (part-time) less than 15 hours of face to face psychotherapy with clients each week. Generally, it takes 2-4 years to finish supervision. Supervision cannot be completed in less than 100 weeks, regardless of how many clients you work with weekly. We can meet as often as your work schedule requires. See for more info.

5. What is the letter needed by the state to get approved for supervision with you? What is your licensure/supervisor information so I can fill it on my application? See below for a sample letter, which includes my info.

6. How do I document completion of our supervision sessions?

You are welcome to document each of our sessions for your records. It is a good idea to keep a copy of the dates that we meet along the way. The state does not require anything to document supervision and clinical hours until the end of our work together. It is not required, but the following is a form you can use- feel free to make copies of it.

The state of FL only requires that supervision and clinical hours be documented at the end using the Supervisor Attestation form, to be submitted when you apply for licensure or if you decide to change supervisors. It is the supervisor’s responsibility to fill out the Supervisor Attestation form and give it to you when you are done with supervision or to mail it to the state board directly.

7. What are your options for licensure exam preparation?

I offer a 5 hr. exam prep crash course that is tremendously successful, with a 96% passing rate 48 out of 50 in the last 2 yrs. compared to the state 78% passing rate. The course offers practice exams, an exam prep manual, and individual consultation. The cost is $90, and comes with a guarantee to pass, or you will receive unlimited weekly hour long preparation online until you do. I also offer weekly live online exam prep sessions at 1hr/wk. Wednesdays at 9p for Registered Clinical Social Work Interns and Thursdays at 9p for Registered Mental Health Counseling Interns from the comfort of your home at $40/session. See my website for payment and more information at under the Training tab.

8. What should I do if I want to have hours I did in another state count here?

If you are trying to carry over hours from another state, it would be safest to email the state of Florida at the Department of Health to inquire about how many hours FL will count, if any, from the other state, and how many hours of supervision you have remaining if any. It is best to email DOH because that way you will have their answer in writing for clarification. Each state’s standards are different.

9. Do you provide any of the courses required by DOH for licensure?

I also do continuing education courses for licensure as well. I can provide the required domestic violence, HIV and medical errors classes for you, just read the power points and complete the related quizzes, I will submit the credits you need to the department of health, as well as a certificate of completion for you. I don't do the laws & rules just yet, but will soon. Go to to order.

10. How is best to contact you with questions?
