There are several exercises in the book, using different styles and techniques. The pictures are absolutely stunning! And the best part, you don't have to own every pastel color in the world. There are many demos using limited palettes of common colors! Definitely a keeper!

After much looking at books and reading reviews I bought this one for my son who is an artist. He wants to move into pastels and wanted a book about landscapes. This was just what was needed. He is very happy with it.

This is a great art tool for beginning and experienced artists alike. Lots of clear, innovative ideas for pastel painting and the author shows her talent and experience in teaching and painting in the plein-air arena.

The demonstrations and guidance on using pastels was really great. The works by Margaret Evans and knowledge she gives is significant and greatly appreciated.

Well worth the buy. Well set out and excellent for getting beginners started in the use of pastels.

This book is a great step-by-step pastel painting guide. Well laid out with easy to follow instructions and suggestions. An excellent book for most things pastel.

This is an excellent book for beginners. It does a nice job of showing all of different kinds of marks made by pastel and the different techniques. It has at least 15 step by step demonstrations - most are landscapes-the level of difficulty increases through out the book.

There is no demonstrations with pastel pencils and lacks informations about when use hard or soft pastels. Also lacks informations about pastels's brands.
