Energy Delivery Department – Job Descriptions

Energy Delivery Department ~General Manager (Tom Black) – Responsible for overall management of Colorado Springs Utilities’ operations of the Electric and Gas Systems. Areas of responsibility include: Electric Control (transmission and distribution), Gas Control (distribution), Energy Delivery Technical Support (EMS/SCADA/Engineering), Energy Field Operations (gas and electric field personnel), Substations and Leak Search and Relay Instrumentation and Control.

Electric Control Customer ~Operations Supt (Gary Jackson) - Responsible for the day to day operation of the Electric Control section of Energy Delivery. This includes Generation Dispatch, Control Area Operations, Transmission Operations & Control and Distribution Operations & Control.

Responsible for managing and coordinating gas distribution system activities in the areas of system operations, gas control, the propane air plant and related electronics.

Electric Control ~Sr System Operator Spec (George Borman, Dave May, Ken Paintin, Loraine Powers, Art Rath) - Responsible for the real-time operation and control of the

Electric Transmission System. This includes the 115KV and 230KV Transmission System. Responsible for the real-time operation and control of the Electric Generation Resources within Springs Utilities. Responsible for adhering to the real-time Control Area Operation requirements set forth by the NERC and the WECC.

Electric Control ~Distribution System Operator Sr (Mike Allen, Joe Kubena, Dan O’Sullivan, Bill Pedro, Pat Riley, Mike Shultz, Mathew Wells) - Responsible for the real-time operation and control of the Electric Distribution System. This includes the 34.5KV Sub-Transmission and Distribution System and the 12.5KV Distribution System.

Gas Control ~Controller (G) (Susan Bugg, Andy Landis, Tammy Phillips, Janelle Poe) – Responsible for operating and monitoring electronic gas delivery control systems (SCADA) in order to meet system gas demands. Typical duties might include: assuring control and flow of gas through Department systems; constant monitoring, adjusting and maintaining of natural gas pressures and odorization with the gas distribution system, monitoring weather conditions, forecasting load requirements and nominating gas supplies in order to ensure adequate gas supplies for customers, coordinating operations and maintenance of equipment; and assuring Department safety through adherence to rules and procedures.

Energy Delivery Technical Support ~Systems Operations Supt (Mike McAvoy) - Supervise the System Control Technical Support group. Provide technical and engineering support to Energy Delivery.

Energy Delivery Technical Support ~ Systems Control Spec Sr (Jim Pannell) - Supervise the Energy Delivery Technical Support group. Manage maintenance and upgrades to the EMS.

Energy Delivery Technical Support ~Systems & Database Spec (John Cotterman, Steven Mahone) - Provide system administration for the EMS.

Energy Delivery Technical Support ~Instr Elec & Control Spec Sr (Darrell Sutton) - Perform maintenance and upgrades to the EMS.

Energy Field Operations ~Customer Operations Supt (Tyler Allison) – Responsible for the management of the Energy Field Operations Unit, Electric and Gas.

Electric Distribution Operations ~Customer Ops Sec Ldr (Michael Dornick) – Responsible for the supervising and monitoring staff and crews, troubleshooting electric system, installing and maintaining electrical distribution and transmission systems, and enforcing safety standards in completing work assignments.

Electric Distribution Operations ~Line Specialists (John Blue, Darrell Bray, Rich Canedo, Jonathan Cannon, Doug Dustin, Rohn Garnhart, Gordon Locke, Jason Pino, Jeff Shepherd, Tully Tysland, Jeff Wilson) - Responsible for performing a wide variety of specialized skilled line activities, such as troubleshooting both the electric distribution and transmission systems.

Electric Distribution UG ~Customer Operations Supt (Tom Hutchison) – Responsible for the supervising and monitoring small maintenance crew and UG cable technicians, troubleshooting OH/UG electric system, installing and maintaining electrical distribution and transmission systems, and enforcing safety standards in completing work assignments.

Electric Distribution UG Cable Techs ~Line Specialist (Dave Coleman, Hal Little, Marty Moberly, Jeff Scott, Christian Whited, Howard Zub) – Responsible for performing a wide variety of specialized skilled line activities, troubleshooting both the electric distribution and transmission systems.

Electric Distribution UG ~Customer Operations Crew Supv (Rick Foltz) – Responsible for the supervising and monitoring small maintenance crew and UG cable technicians, troubleshooting OH/UG electric system, installing and maintaining electrical distribution and transmission systems, and enforcing safety standards in completing work assignments.

Electric Distribution UG Maint Crews ~Line Technician (Robert Christian, Jimmy Jelosek, Jamin Pieper) – Responsible for performing a wide variety of skilled line activities, such as OH/UG maintenance of the electric distribution and transmission systems.

Gas Distribution Operations ~Customer Ops Supv (Paul Brizal) - Responsible for planning, coordinating and supervising activities related to the operation and maintenance of the gas distribution and transmission systems.

Gas Distribution Operations ~Distribution Sys Operator (Ken Chambers, Brian Crego, Mike Howard, Robert Maestas, Tommy Mattorano, Bill Mohrenweiser, Jon Stahl) - Responsible for installing, operating inspecting, maintaining and repairing gas distribution systems, the five gate stations and appurtenant equipment.
