Investment Style & Strategy
There are several investment styles that have the potential to play a valuable role in an investment portfolio. With this in mind, Skywalk Capital Investment Club is open to investing in any industry and sector, whether domestic or international.
In regards to an active or passive investment strategy, we believe the overall market is not necessarily efficient, and that opportunities exist to exploit these market inefficiencies. Therefore, we strive to capitalize on the research potential of the club’s members and their ability to identify investments that can outperform the general market.
From an asset allocation perspective, our primary focus will be to invest in stocks, with little to no capital allocated to bonds, money markets, etc.
However, beyond this active investing, stock-based asset-allocation model, we believe a well-diversified style of investing provides the basis for striking a balance between the potential for gain and the risk of loss.
With respect to growth vs. value investing, we seek investment opportunities across the spectrum. As a result, the club is a proponent of a blended strategy which can take advantage of traditional growth and value opportunities. The high growth and earnings potential of growth stocks, coupled with lower-risk dividend-paying value stocks, as well as their relatively low correlation, help lay a solid foundation for the club to maximize returns while managing volatility and risk.
Similarly, the club also holds to the diversification principle in relation to market capitalization. The higher return and risk potential of smaller cap stocks combined with lower volatility of larger cap stocks and the cyclical nature of the market provide an ideal approach to our long-term investing strategy.
While only the future will validate the merits of our investing strategy, we are confident that this strategy will be justified by the ensuing returns our portfolio of investments will experience in the years to come.
