For items that have low stock across the organization/nation/world, supply chain will take the following steps:Rapidly complete full physical inventory to determine AAH stock healthCollaborate with system and local Infection Prevention, Patient Safety, and others to determine where the specific item must be stocked at our sitesReduce site/local stock on hand to not be greater than 1 weekCentralize any excess inventory and put under lock and key – At both system level and locallyWhere items must be forward deployed to a department put under lock and key managed by Unit Manager, Charge Nurse, etc. see attached site Lock Down Item Release ProcedureSupply Chain will distribute the inventory as needed daily/weeklySupply Chain will communicate at local safety huddles the health of their local inventory and ensure all departments have what they need for safe patient careNote: This approach will ensure all sites have the supplies they need, and hoarding does not occur. See Below for more detailsPPE PAR Reduction Process: This process will be implemented to ensure shrinkage and accountability for PPE supplies that are forward deployed in site departments. Local Supply Chain Managers will take the following steps:Supply Chain Manager reviews PPE stocking locations and par levels at your local siteEngage local infection preventionist to review list to make recommendations on where PPE par levels can be reducedEngage department leaders to review the recommended par levels and discuss education/communication plan on how best to reduce consumption in their location/department (safety must always be a core value when making this decision)Supply Chain leaders reduce par levels and educate Supply Chain staff on ordering expectationsSupply Chain Leaders establish auditing cadence for par location audits and report site health at daily safety huddles.
