We will discuss the different buildings we saw, especially the homes. Some homes are apartments while other people live in 1 family type of house. Then we will discuss their home. The children will show a picture of their home. Then we will talk about who lives in their home with them.Dramatic Play- we will encourage the children to decorate their kitchen using art work or family picturesBlocks the children will be encourages to replicate the pictures of different types of homes and buildings they see posted on the wall.Science- the children will be encouraged to look at a book about germs. Then they will talk about how they can keep their home free form puter- They will play math games involving color.Writing- we will use their writing folder or will take a whiteboard and marker and write words that are related to the theme of homes. (home, door, room, sink...)Literacy/ Library- The children will use books to identify words that begin with the letter l. Art-The children will color different rooms in their home. Then they will decorate it according to the people in their family who are in that room. They can dictate what that member is doing in that room. We will discuss who is in their home and what they o at home. We will also remind them that all homes are different. We will discuss the differences such as size and color and materials that the homes are made from.Dramatic Play- Students pretend that they are certain people who live in their home. They will act out their family members.Science- Various materials that are used to build homes will be placed on the sand table for the children to explore Math- the children will create a graph. The graph will be what type of home they live in. then they will count up the homes to see which type of home most children live in.Table Top- children will use Legos or building blocks to create buildings, homes and stores.Literacy/ Library- The children will walk around the classroom (house) identifying objects that start with the letter l. Writing- The children will use the writing folder or we will encourage the students to write their favorite room in their home.Art- the children will try to recreate the buildings, homes by using pop sticks. They can then decorate as they like. We will review their differences. Then we will discuss another difference in our homes, our addresses. We will learn that each home has a unique address. Students will send home letters. At this point teacher will introduce the mail carriers and their job. We will also point that the address helps the mail carrier locate our homes and deliver the mail.Science- the children will work with colors to create new colors. Today they will use red and blue paint to make different shades of purple.Dramatic play- Students can pretend they are going on a walk to visit their friend. But what’s the address? They then can write their own address for their house.Blocks- Students are provided with pictures of a variety of different homes. They will use the pictures to guide their building. Math- the children will play color bingo.Literacy/ Library- Children will use pictures they draw or cut out to create a collage of words that start with the letter l.Writing- The children will use the writing folder or the children will write their address on the envelopeArt- The children will be encouraged to use a stencil to write their address. The children will use the numbers to show us their addresses. They can focus on one area or a combination of areas.Science- the children will work with colors to create new colors. Today they will use yellow and blue paint to make different shades of green.Math- the children will create a color pattern. they can use a variety of material such as cubes, do a dot art paint, stickers or colored tissue puter- They will play math games involving colors.Literacy/ Library-They will look at an alphabet book and listen to music to review letter l sound and words that begin with the letter l.Writing- The children will use the writing folder or they will trace or write words they see in the classroom.Art- The children will be encouraged to write and color a picture for their family. They can then dictate to their teacher what they wrote. Then they will seal it in their envelope. We will discuss what we do in each of the rooms. We can also talk about the different people or pets I our home and where they spend their time. The children can also relate which is their favorite room and why. Dramatic Play- the children will pretend they are in different rooms of their home. They will try to recall what they need for each room and create it as best as they can.Fine Motor- the children can use play-doh to create building or stores or homes. They can also discuss the colors that they see in different structures.Science- the children will work with colors to create new colors. Today they will use yellow and red paint to make different shades of orange. Math- the children will create a Venn diagram to show the results of mixing two colors.Literacy/ Library- The children will choose a book and identify words that start with the letter l. They will write it down and draw pictures besides it.Writing- the children will use the writing folder or the children will practice writing their names.Art- The children take a mini trip to the post office to mail their letters to their family.Writing-Word of the Day- familySocial/ Emotional- Week to Review # 11(12/7-12/11) Week 11: AccidentsMonday 12/7Preform puppet script: The girl puppet is looking for a bracelet and she is not watching where she is going. She bumps into her friend on Accident. They are learning that when someone does something they did not mean to do it is called an accident. Introduce Words for this week: Accident Song: Everyone Has Accidents (Track 14) Brain Builder: Play the Lost and Found game: Using a musical instrument such as a bell or drum. Have your students close/cover their eyes and use their listening ears. Then have a TA play a sound on the instrument. Ask students to keep their eyes closed and to point in the direction of the missing drum. Have students open their eyes did they find your TA with the missing drum. Yes! Great job using those listening ears. Let’s play again.Play a few more rounds having your TA with the instrument move to different spots in the room once students’ eyes are closed. Tuesday 12/8Story & Discussion: Use the picture on the poster to share a visual of the story that you are discussing with students. Today's story is about?Adam and Miles. They were riding bikes on the playground when Adam accidently ran into Miles’ bike. Looking at the boys faces review feelings. Adam might feel Sad and Surprised. Miles might feel angry and surprised. Review that when an accident happens it means the person did not mean to do it and that they can say they are sorry because it was an accident. Wednesday 12/9Skill Building Activity #1:?1.?Have children sit in a circle. Introduce the game: ___Girl and Boy puppet___?are going to show us some stories. You will decide if what happens in the story is an accident.2.?Have the puppets act out the scenarios below.3.?Have children say whether it is an accident or not.Scenarios:Boy says, “It’s fun to go backward!” He walks backward into Girl and knocks her over. (Accident)Girl is first in line. Boy wants to be first, so he pushes Girl out of the way to be first. He hurts her arm. (Not an accident – but should still say sorry because he did not want her to get hurt. He should help her up and get the teacher)Girl slips and falls. She bumps Boy, who is coloring. He messes up his drawing and is upset. (Accident)Boy puppet is jumping up and down dancing and bumps into the girl puppet dancing next to him. She falls. (Accident)Girl puppet is playing in the block center with the blocks building. She gets mad because he took a block that she wanted to use so she pushes his tower over. (Not an accident- she should still say she is sorry and help him rebuild)For students who struggle with speech you can ask as yes or no questions and encourage all students to shake their heads yes if they believe it was an accident or no if it was not an accident. Thursday 12/10Skill Building Activity #2:?Introduce the activity.?We are going to practice what to say when there is an accident. Using the puppets have the boy puppet pretend he was not looking and ran into the Girl puppet?by accident.Model saying:?It was an accident. Have children pretend their hands are puppets and copy you having one hand run into the other.Model saying:?Are you okay? Have children copy/echo you.Model saying:?I’m sorry?
