STRATEGIC INITIATIVES COORDINATOR

Description: Under the direction of the Workforce Development Director, the Strategic Initiatives Coordinator is responsible for the identification of funding opportunities which sustain and expand program capacity, as well as development and implementation of strategic initiatives that enhance program delivery in the Kerr-Tar Workforce Development Board (KTWDB) region. The Coordinator is responsible for grant management and meeting grant requirements, to include client eligibility, performance goals, budget, and reporting, while complying with KTWDB policies and procedures. The Coordinator will also serve as the primary contact and be responsible for the overall coordination of the Kerr-Tar Reentry Council. This includes coordination among all Kerr-Tar Reentry Council members and seeking new partners as well as documenting and monitoring the progress and outcomes of the Kerr-Tar Reentry Council. Work involves considerable research, public contact often on sensitive or emotional issues requiring judgement, firmness, and tact. The role also includes developing favorable relationships between/among various local agencies, promoting regionalism, and working effectively with local and regional partners Work is performed under general supervision and is evaluated through conferences, review of work results obtained, and overall success of the proposed programs.

Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Task Conducts research, identifies, and communicates with program staff in development of new public and private grant opportunities consistent with organizational priorities and KTWDB capacity; directs daily operations of Strategic Initiatives programs to ensure quality client services in compliance with federal and state eligibility and performance requirements, budget guidelines, and stated outcomes; develops, organizes and supports innovative strategies and special projects to better engage and serve the participation of unique populations across programs in workforce activities; works in conjunction with other KTWDB programs as needed to assure that all customers obtain quality workforce training and employment assistance services.

Coordinate all aspects of the Kerr-Tar Reentry Council; coordinate meetings and other needed Council activities, including leadership meetings; work closely with Kerr-Tar Reentry Council partners to ensure activities are coordinated, referrals are made, communication is strong, and that challenges are addressed; Responsible for assisting in the ongoing monitoring of sub-awards; ensure accurate and timely tracking and reporting of programrelated budget, data, and programmatic information; maintain accurate and organized files and information.

Recruitment and Selection Guidelines Knowledge of grant development and implementation principles and practices. Knowledge of public sector budgeting principles and practices. Knowledge of governmental laws, programs, and services pertinent to community

development and workforce development. Considerable skill in the collection, analysis, and presentation of technical data Considerable skill in conflict resolution, meeting facilitation, and public presentations. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with community

groups, local,federal, state, and regional officials, and the general public. Ability to prepare comprehensive reports and presentations. Ability to express ideas effectively in oral and written forms.

Physical Requirements Must be able to physically perform the basic life operational functions of reaching,

standing, walking, grasping, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions. Must be able to perform light work exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or

10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to lift carry, push, pull,or otherwise move objects. Must possess the visual acuity to examine and work with charts, graphs and detailed materials, operate a computer, and do extensive reading.

Desired Education and Experience Graduation from an accredited college or university with an Associate's degree in human services, non-profit management or related field and two years of experience; or an equivalent combination of experience or training.
