Predictive Services Discussion:

Precipitation, mostly falling as snow, will spread from north to south across the northern CONUS through the weekend. Heavy snow will fall in portions of the northern and central Rockies and the Cascades, with lighter, more scattered precipitation across other areas of the West. Dry and potentially breezy conditions are likely in southern portions of the Southwest into southwest Texas this weekend into early next week. Much of the central and southern High Plains will remain dry through early next week and possibly into late next week, and much of the West, Plains, Midwest, and Great Lakes are expected to have below normal temperatures through next week.

Moisture will increase from the Texas Gulf Coast through the Lower Mississippi Valley and eventually most of the Southeast this weekend into next week, with widespread rainfall, including severe thunderstorms, expected across these areas. Multiple rounds of thunderstorms and rainfall, including swaths of heavy rain and flooding, are likely from east Texas through the Lower Mississippi Valley, central Gulf Coast, and into the southeast Atlantic Coast next week. However, much of the Florida Peninsula is likely to receive little to no rainfall in the next week, with dry and breezy conditions expected on portions of the Florida Peninsula today and areas of low relative humidity tomorrow.
