Go to google.cps.edu You will see the following and click where it says Badge Login.

Your computer or laptop will access your camera so it can read the QR code within the red parameters.

Step 3

Your child will be asked three times to choose a picture. I recommend that you write down which pictures your child selects in case he/she forgets. Again, every time a picture is selected, your child will have to select another one. It will occur three times. Please follow the example below.

As you can see the selected picture will show at the bottom and now it is time to select another picture (second time).

This is the last time your child will select a picture and you will see the two previous pictures he/she has selected on the bottom (third time).

Step 4

Please make sure to write down which three (3) pictures your child has selected as they will be needed every time, he/she will login in the future. Please keep in mind that when they login in the future, the pictures will appear in random order, therefore it is important for students to pay attention to which picture they select. Students will be asked to select the correct picture three different times. For this last time, please click on Go.

Step 5

Please verify that it is your child and click on the Continue button. You will see your child's initial of his/her first name followed by the initial of his/her middle name if they have one and then the last name. Some will have a number after the last name followed by @cps.edu.

Step 6

Your child will now see the Gmail Welcome sign. Please click on Next.

Step 7

The next window is to choose a view. This will be a personal choice. I recommend the default for now. Please click on OK.

Step 8

This is the CPS Gmail home view. Your child will be able to see any email from his/her teacher(s), especially all those you have created a Google Classroom. All assignments that are posted in the classroom therefore, your child will receive an email notifying them of theses assignments.

Step 9

On the top right-hand corner, the Google Apps are located. Click on them so that you may access the Google Classroom app.

Locate the Classroom and click on it.

The name of your child will appear along with their CPS username@cps.edu. Please click on Continue.

Please have your child select their role as student.

You shall either see your child in a Classroom or he/she will need to join the Classroom via a given class code that the teacher has provide in an email. If the child does not have a Classroom, he/she must click on the + (plus/add sign) located at the top right-hand corner. A class code consists of 6 or 7 letters or numbers. For example, hjhmgrk or g5gdp1.

Step 14

Best practice is to always sign out/log off after each use. Click on the letter that is displayed at the top right-hand corner. Then you will see the sign out button which will need to be click on. Remember to do this every time your child is finished using Google Classroom or the CPS Gmail.

Steps 11-13 are only done for the first time. Students will not need to repeat these steps every time they login in.
