POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT: Student Affairs Coordinator

• This is a full-time position at the Mountain View Campus.

• Employment is with Chattahoochee Technical College and not with an individual campus.  All employees are subject to work relocation based on college needs.

POSITION DESCRIPTION

• Coordinates the provision of student affairs functions for an assigned campus, including recruiting, admissions, registrar functions, student activities, disability services, international student services, new student advising, career services, and student conduct and discipline.

• Enforces state and federal regulations, TCSG guidelines, SACS regulations, and college policies and procedures.

• Trains, assigns, directs, supervises and evaluates the work of assigned personnel.

• Coordinates admissions processes and registration functions for the campus.

• Serves as admissions counselor and advisor of new students.

• Organizes campus events including high school, middle school and student life events.

• Maintains annual budgets

• Perform other related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Baccalaureate Degree required in a course of study related to the occupational field.

• Experience sufficient to thoroughly understand the work of subordinate positions to be able to answer questions and resolve problems, usually associated with one to three years experience or service.

• Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Previous experience working in a Student Affairs Department.

SALARY/BENEFITS

• $41,566.16 annual salary.

Student Affairs Coordinator SA/11

Student Affairs FLSA Status: Exempt

JOB SUMMARY

This position is responsible for coordinating student affairs functions for assigned satellite campuses of Chattahoochee Technical College.

MAJOR DUTIES

• Coordinates the provision of student affairs functions for an assigned campus, including recruiting, admissions, registrar functions, student activities, disability services, international student services, new student advising, career services, and student conduct and discipline.

• Works with Academic Affairs, Facilities and Maintenance, Student Affairs, Business Affairs and other units within the college to ensure safe, efficient operation of campus and programs.

• Enforces state and federal regulations, TCSG guidelines, SACS regulations, and college policies and procedures.

• Trains, assigns, directs, supervises and evaluates the work of assigned personnel.

• Coordinates admissions processes and registration functions for the campus.

• Serves as admissions counselor and advisor of new students.

• Communicates with staff regarding pertinent information on policies, procedures, and guidelines pertaining to job functions.

• Surveys and assesses campus physical plant for adequacy and condition of physical plan and equipment and communicates facility, equipment and maintenance needs to proper departments.

• Coordinates with the Office of Campus Safety and local campus safety officer to ensure emergency response preparedness.

• Organizes campus events including high school, middle school and student life events.

• Maintains annual budgets.

• Performs related duties.

KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED BY THE POSITION

• Knowledge of the mission of postsecondary vocational/technical education.

• Knowledge of college programs of study.

• Knowledge of financial aid requirements.

• Knowledge of related state and federal regulations.

• Knowledge of budget development and management principles.

• Skill to work cooperatively with community leaders, students, faculty and staff.

• Skill in the operation of computers and job related software programs.

SUPERVISORY CONTROLS

The Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs assigns work in terms of very general instructions. The supervisor spot-checks completed work for compliance with procedures and the nature and propriety of the final results.

GUIDELINES

Guidelines include the State Board of Technical and Adult Education Policy and Procedures Manual, Chattahoochee Technical College policies and procedures, and applicable federal and state legislation, policy and guidelines. These guidelines require judgment, selection and interpretation in application.

COMPLEXITY/SCOPE OF WORK

• The work consists of varied administrative and management duties. The variety of tasks to be managed contributes to the complexity of the position.

• The purpose of this position is to coordinate the student affairs functions for an assigned campus. Success in this position contributes to the recruitment and retention of students and the efficient and effective operation of campus programs.

• Contacts are typically with students, faculty, staff, college administrators, and members of the general public.

• Contacts are typically to motivate or influence persons, to resolve problems, to give or exchange information, or to provide services.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ WORK ENVIRONMENT

• The work is typically performed while sitting at a desk or table or while intermittently sitting, standing, or stooping. The employee occasionally lifts light and heavy objects.

• The work is typically performed in an office.

SUPERVISORY AND MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITY

This position has direct supervision over Student Affairs Specialist and Student Affairs Assistant as assigned.
