For more information on which countries are subject to TRV requirements , visit the CIC website: Temporary Resident Visa (TRV) is the official document showing you meet the requirements to enter Canada. It is a separate document from your Study Permit, Work Permit or Visitor Record/entry stamp. It is a sticker that is the approximate size of a passport page which has been pasted into your passport by Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) authorities. If you are from a country whose citizens require a TRV to enter Canada, your TRV must be up-to-date if you leave Canada and want to re-enter. You need a new TRV if your most recent one has expired or was valid for only one entry to Canada AND you plan to leave and re-enter Canada.Renew your TRV at least 2 months prior to your planned departure from Canada if your existing TRV has expired. Although not required, we recommend you have a valid TRV even when travelling to the USA. This will help avoid unnecessary confusion.Your study or work permit must be valid before you apply for another TRV. If your study or work permit has expired, you require a “restoration of status”. Your application to restore your status must have been approved before you can apply for a TRV.We generally recommend that you hold a minimum of six months validity on your current passport before applying for a new TRV. Therefore, if your passport is about to expire, we recommend that you renew your passport first. In no circumstance will CIC issue you a TRV that exceeds the validity date of your passport. The application fee for a TRV is $100 CDN. As of February 6, 2014, CIC has indicated that it will assess all TRV applicants to determine whether or not they should receive multiple entry TRVs or single entry TRVs. CIC retains the discretion to issue single entry visas to applicants where circumstances warrant this. In other words, while CIC will continue to determine whether a TRV will be issued for single or multiple entries and the length of TRV which is issued. You can submit your application for a TRV online or by mail either inside or outside of Canada. This quick reference sheet provides information about online applications made inside of Canada.5377180946150068494615325374027290300Go to the CIC website at cic.gc.ca and login to your MyCIC Account (for more information please see ISS quick reference sheet, CIC Online Applications: GCKEY, MYCIC, & PHOTO SPECIFICATIONS)2540389255Click the Apply for ‘Visitor visa, study and/or work permit’ button found under the heading ‘What would you like to do today?’.-168025946355000Under the heading ‘I do not have a Personal Checklist Code’ click the ‘Determine your eligibility and apply online’ link.230124030480You will be taken to a screen, ‘Find Out if You’re Eligible to Apply’.
