I.M. Terrell Academy for STEM and Visual and Performing Arts is committed to providing timely information and facts for our apprentices and families. This FAQ page will be updated regularly, so check our webpage often.We are so proud of our faculty who adjusted their curriculum very quickly last spring to alternate formats. Their response was remarkable! Students – you were patient with us and adapted so quickly to this challenge. We continue to work toward fall enrollment and are monitoring daily updates related to safety. Safety will be our top priority as we make decisions about the best way to deliver instructions to keep students on track to graduate and accomplish your goals. This document is provided to share the protocols of our upcoming IN PERSON LEARNING which will be scheduled after the FWISD October 5, 2020 review of current pandemic statistics. We look forward to the days that we may all join together again on a safe campus environment. Thank you, Faculty and Students!Personal Protection Equipment (PPE): Masks will be required for everyone on campus and must be worn at all times, unless eating breakfast or lunch. FWISD will provide students with cloth and disposable masks as needed. Students may also choose to wear their own, washable, reusable mask from home.Faculty are encouraged to wear face shields in addition to masks (provided by employee). Gloves are recommended for custodians and cafeteria workers.Hand Washing and Disinfecting ExpectationsFrequent hand sanitization and disinfection will be required to ensure the health and safety of students and staff.Daily Campus Cleaning: Includes routine cleaning with special attention to high use areas, increased disinfecting throughout the school day for high use areas, caily application of disinfectants, daily spraying of all facilities, and cleaning supplies provided for each classroom. Check-In Stations: Three Student Grade Level Check-In Stations will be available in the morning:STATION ONE: FRESHMEN – BUILDING ONE PRINCIPAL OFFICE FRONT ENTRY (Close to Patio)STATION TWO: SOPHOMORES – BUILDING ONE CENTER DOUBLE DOOR ENTRYSTATION THREE: JUNIORS – BUILDING ONE CAFETERIA FRONT ENTRY.STUDENTS WILL MAINTAIN SIX FEET SOCIAL DISTANCING WHILE IN LINE FOR CHECK IN AND THROUGHOUT THE DAY.Entering the Building Entering the building for Teachers: Teachers are asked to conduct the FWISD “self wellness check” QR Code Survey at home prior to coming to campus in the morning. Temperature check as well as answering specific health questions are required by FWISD. Teachers sign in and note their wellness check compliance.Entering the Building for Students: At 7:50 – 8:10 a.m. (no earlier per FWISD) Prior to going to the bus stop, students will complete a daily wellness check from home (including a temperature check). If a student has a temperature 100 degrees Fahrenheit or higher, they are to remain at home. Students enter the building at the assigned grade level entrance and go through the “temperature and health checks” with the school staff. Wellness check will be completed and the school staff will validate the student’s clearance to enter the campus. Students will then proceed directly to their classes.If a student does not pass a health check or exhibits a temperature of 100 degrees Fahrenheit or higher, campus staff will escort the student to the school nurse for next steps. Throughout the day, teachers will monitor students and refer them to the nurse if symptoms are present.Entering the Building for Parents or Visitors: To the extent possible, meetings will be conducted virtually or via phone to limit campus visitors. Parents and Visitors are discouraged from entering the campus, barring extenuating circumstances. In-person volunteers are not allowed to visit campuses at this time. All individuals entering the building will be required to wear a facemask, required to pre-screen before entering the campus and will be subject to a health screening upon arrival by proceeding directly to the Building 3 (Yellow Sign) Performing Arts Center entrance. Individuals with COVID-19 symptoms or lab confirmed COVID-19 are not eligible to enter a campus under any circumstance.Parents and visitors will state their business to Ms. Golightly, FWISD Security Monitor at the Building 3 entrance. Parents and Visitors will wait for the student or administrator to greet them in the Building 3 lobby. Individuals will observe social distancing protocols at all times.Breakfast: Students will go directly from their Grade Level Check-In Station to the classroom. Breakfast will be available for students, and options of breakfast serving and pickup are still being developed at this time. Walking in Halls and Stairs: Signs will be posted in the halls for single file walk ways. Stairs will be one way only as designated. This is to minimize crowded walk ways and stairs for social distancing. Six feet distancing is required.Restrooms: Restroom use will be limited to one person at a time to support social distancing and proper hygiene/ sanitary practices. Students are asked to return immediately to class after using the restroom facilities. Restrooms will be cleaned periodically throughout the day.Lunch: Lunch will be available for students daily. Students are allowed to bring their own sack lunches, as well. Options of lunch serving and pickup are still being developed at this time. Early Dismissal: Parents or guardians will enter Building 3, complete a wellness check, request their student name to Mrs. Golightly, FWISD Security Monitor, and wait for Mrs. Golightly to contact Mr. Sanchez. Mr. Sanchez will call for the student to walk to the Building 3 entrance and exit with parent or guardian. Parent or guardians are not allowed to enter the campus for early dismissal due to CoVid-19 restrictions.Illness during school hours: Students that become ill during the school day will be dismissed by their teacher to Nurse Smith’s office. She will contact parents and have the student wait in a separate, secure, quarantine room. When parents come to check out the student in Building 3, Nurse Smith will bring the students to the parents.Emergency Drills: Emergency drills are being revised to accommodate for social distancing, as much as possible.Instruction in Person: Several options are available for in person instruction which may accommodate students that are also able to login and learn virtually. Platforms available to supplement online instruction include: (Microsoft Teams, Google Hangout, Google Meet, Google Classroom, Zoom, Facebook Live, Switcher Studio, One Note, etc.) per FWISD approval. The online instruction will be robust (per Dr. Scribner) and will have the same rigor and expectations as in person learning.One unique option to our campus is that students may sit in assigned seats in the classroom, all facing one direction toward the instructor and the Smart Board. The instructor may teach the lesson while wearing the “Front Row” microphone, and video-taping the lesson from the Smart Board and microphone. This can be recorded for “online instruction”. These lessons will be available to students and parents via a “private link” with parental permission. Exiting the Building A. Exiting the Building for Students: Staggered dismissals:1. TEAM ONE EXIT - 3:10 pm Building One-Third Floor exit the Cafeteria exit out to front of Building 1 to assigned classroom line. Building 3 Second Floor – exit hall single file to lobby steps to exit out to the front of Building 1 to the assigned classroom line. 2. TEAM TWO EXIT - 3:13 pm Building One-Second Floor exit the Center Double Door exit out to the front of Building 1 to assigned classroom line. Building Two – Exit Building 2 hall single file and go through the Patio exit out to the front of Building 1 to the assigned classroom line. TEAM THREE EXIT – 3:15 pm Building One-First Floor exit to the Patio double door exit to the front of Building 1 to assigned classroom line. Building 3 First Floor – exit hall to front lobby and out to the front of Building One to the assigned classroom line.Exiting the Building for Teachers: Teachers collect materials after finishing assigned duties. Exit through any available door and proceed directly to your vehicle. After School Activities: After school activities are suspended at this time until further notice. School Transportation: Students will be required to wear masks on the school bus. Students will follow social distancing six feet apart while standing in line to enter or exit the school bus.After Hours Building Use: I.M. Terrell campus buildings will not be opened after hours unless approved by our Principal, Mr. Brown.Elevator Use: Elevator use will be limited to one person at a time, with a nurse’s permission form.Cell Phone Use: Students may only use their cell phones in class with the teacher’s permission. Students will not be allowed to “share phones”.Hand sanitizer and sanitizing wipes: Students will be encouraged to bring these items from home if possible, and to wipe down their desks, materials and clean hands throughout the day.What if a new spike in CoVid-19 cases occurs after school starts? We will follow the guidance of FWISD, TEA and CDC and share new updates with parents and students.Where can I find more information about the Coronavirus?This is an evolving situation. Stay up to date by consulting the?Centers for Disease Control (CDC)?website.?Note: All teachers will attend training and develop classroom procedures consistent with TEA, District and CDC guidance. All staff will be trained on COVID screening, identification of symptoms, prevention of spread, and sanitation of work areas. Parents are asked to talk to their students about COVID-19 symptoms and prevention strategies.Professional development for campus custodians on the disinfecting of a facility should a confirmed case of COVID-19 be identified on a specific campus and need to be closed for a designated amount of time, as recommended by the CDC.Isolation Procedures and COVID-19 CasesFor students displaying symptoms of COVID-19 or are feeling feverish, the nurse will assess to determine if and when a student needs to be sent home. Students will wait in a separate quarantined classroom in isolation until the parent is able to pick them up. If an individual has been lab confirmed to have COVID-19, the school will notify the Fort Worth ISD health department. Proper cleaning and disinfection will follow a COVID-19 positive report, district communication (without disclosing the name of the infected individual) will be provided to those in close contact with the positive testing individual, possible 14 day quarantining and/or campus/classroom closures may occur.
