Pathway to GED Connection Activities

Learners preparing for the GED exam have several options with GED Connection:

• Learners can take a free online pretest to see where they need to study in each of the five GED content areas, then go right to the Internet activities that will help most.

• 39 half-hour video programs air on many public television stations across the country and are available on VHS tape [Available through WNET; ].

• Three workbooks cover all five areas of the GED exam-Language Arts: Reading & Writing, Science & Social Studies, and Mathematics [Available through WNET; ].

Accessing GED Connection Activities online

GED Connection is the key PBS broadcast program for adult learners seeking to obtain the GED. GED Connection videos air year-round and this companion website allows learners to practice taking GED sections online, build pre-GED skills or develop workplace essential skills. Registration is required to access the GED Connection resources online. For this lesson, the “Chemistry of Cooking” page, “Key Ideas” page and the “Activity” page will allow learners to see how each component of this lesson builds to form a unique opportunity to convert your kitchen into a laboratory.
