Confirmation Retreat

Confirmation Retreat

Friday, April 13th-Saturaday, April 14th

Goals:

1.) To cover section 2 in the Credo Confirmation Curriculum—“Confirm Your Faith.”

2.) To build relationships w/students and connecting them in relationship to each other.

Leaders: Elliott & Joy Gonzalez (will be running & teaching everything) John Matthews will be able to help for 2 hours on Saturday morning.

Volunteers: need all parents of students to help out in various ways. Will need at least one parent w/us entire time to stay Safe Sanctuary compliant for class portion of the retreat. And then we will need several mothers and fathers to stay overnight with us and the students, as well as, extra help to facilitate meals.

Details:

• Students need to arrive on Friday fed, there will be no dinner, just snacks.

• Overnight stay.

• Will be at LUMC Study Center.

~Girls will sleep in upstairs rooms & have upstairs bathrooms.

~Boys will sleep downstairs & will use downstairs bathroom.

~Common Area is for session times & meals & free time. (Guys will never been in girls area & vice versa)

• Students are able to bring cell phones, but no other electronic devices, as well as, no headphones. Cell phones will only be available during free times & will be held overnight, so they cannot use them after lights out.

TO Bring List:

• Overnight bedding—Pillow, blankets/sleeping bag

• Clothes for Saturday.

• Bible, Notebook, & Pen.

• Any toliteries you may need.(Some Suggestions include: DEODERANT; shampoo, conditioner, toothbrush & toothpaste, floss, body wash/soap, any hair and/or cosmetic products you use; etc…)

• Washcloth & Towel.

• An Expectant Heart! Whether you feel you need something specifically from God this weekend (peace, etc…) or not, come with a heart and mind open for whatever God wants to do in your life. Whether He wants to remind you of His constant presence in you life, His peace available to you, or wants you to discover a new/renewed fire and passion in your heart, be open and be ready. Our God is a big, adventurous, passionate God who wants you to know and experience Him in very real ways.

While you are able to bring your cell phones, we will ask during sessions they be put on silent and that you’re not on them, UNLESS there is an emergency.

NOT TO Bring List:

• A bad attitude. (whether your mad at your momma, your papa, your BFF, your youth pastors, your brother or sister, leave it at home, actually, JUST GET RID OF IT!) We promise to not hold you back from experiencing God, so don’t hold yourself back. The question is not “can” you know & experience God, BUT “will” you know & experience God.
