Marie Terms of Employment:Full-Time, Contract (Up to 14 months) Salary:$66,029.60 - $75,930.40/year, per Local 601 Summary of Function: The Assessment Counsellor is responsible for providing primary health care and assistance to clients diagnosed with mental disorders and substance abuse issues to promote their optimal health.?The Assessment Counsellor works within a multi-disciplinary team to provide prevention, assessment, referral, clinical counselling and follow-up services to individuals and family members affected by mental health and substance use issues. The Assessment Counsellor will deliver support services in coordination with supportive housing rent supplement units. The Assessment Counsellor carries out these responsibilities in accordance with the mission, vision and values of CMHA, relevant legislation and regulations and organizational policies, to promote the delivery of efficient and high-quality services. Major Responsibilities – Areas of Expected Competency – Demonstrated and Evidenced by:Provides mental health and addiction counselling and support to individuals, families and groups in the communityCommunity Relations/Advocacy, and Organizational ResponsibilityExhibits exemplary professional conductEngages in effective internal and external relationships with all staff, clients and volunteers of the organization, other organizations and the communityPromotes and supports a safe work environment.Education/CertificationMSW, or Master’s level in a related field or a BSW with three years’ counselling experience. Current registration with OCSWSSW or a regulated body under the Regulated Health Professions Act, is mandatory.
