4. Select the "Primary Succession" tab. Keep the temperature and rainfall setting at Low, and watch the animation. Answer the following questions: a. What causes the initial creation of the island?

b. What happens with topsoil and nutrients as time passes?

c. In order of succession, describe the ecological changes that happen on the island.

5. Reset the temperature and rainfall setting to Medium, and watch the animation. Reset the temperature and rainfall setting to High, and watch the animation. What is the difference in rate of succession between Low, Medium, and High temperature and rainfall?

6. Select the "Secondary Succession" tab. Click on the arrow to start the forest fire. This will trigger secondary succession. Answer the following questions:

a. How are the topsoil and nutrients changing during secondary succession?
