The applicant will collaborate with various offices/departments across campus to teach and coach academic success strategies for First Year experience students. This position focuses on developing and supporting all students on a wide range of engagement fronts and will involve working with a variety of campus support services. The role plays a key part in supporting student attendance, retention, and success rates. Central to this position is the need to deliver key initiatives and projects that enhance the overall student journey and student experience. In addition, the applicant will lead the delivery of student engagement activities which will involve working closely with a variety of internal and external participants. QUALIFICATIONS: Required: Bachelor’s Degree and one to three (3) years’ experience working with students in an educational setting is required. Preference will be given to applicants with experience in working with academically under prepared students in a college setting. The applicant should have excellent communication skills and be able to work effectively in a highly visible area assisting students, faculty, and colleagues. The applicant should also have good computer skills. Considerable knowledge of new student program approaches, principles, and theories that strengthen resiliency factors for new students and develop academic support structures is required.SPECIAL INFORMATION: Rust College is a historically black college located in Holly Springs, Mississippi. In addition, the applicant will lead the delivery of student engagement activities which will involve working closely with a variety of internal and external participants.WORK PERFORMED (Essential Duties and Responsibilities): Determine and execute strategies that provide efficient, professional, and accurate information to fosters an impactful First Year Experience at Rust College.Develop and coordinate innovative, responsive, and professional programs and services to enhance the learning and development needs of first year and returning students.Identify gaps in programmatic areas, student life issues, and initiatives where programs and services would support and enhance student engagement and learning. Develop and deliver new programs and services.Contribute to the evaluation and assessment of first year initiatives by collecting and analyzing data.Guide students through each stage of their onboard experience, with a key focus on encouraging campus engagement that will help students persist to graduation.Provide clear communication to students, staff, faculty, parents and departments about the first-year student initiatives, programs, and services.Provide planning and advising for NPHC, royal court, SGA, and campus wide activities.Develop creative engagement through social media, website, and other sources of communication to address student questions and concerns.Promotes and supports campus clubs and organizations; provides an annual orientation for all clubs and organizations; maintains appropriate contact with all clubs and organizations, including advisors.Promotes, organizes, and coordinates campus special events such as festival, organizational fairs, blood drives, movie nights, and other activities.Coordinates campus volunteer programs, maintains accurate records of all volunteer programs that Rust College student organizations sponsor, co-sponsor, and/or participate in on behalf of the college.Must be flexible with work schedule, may require work after traditional 8-5 hours including weekends when necessary.Other job-related duties as assigned.Qualification- Education and Experience:Bachelor’s degree required.Demonstrated commitment to diversity and ability to communicate and positively engage students and colleagues across cultural barriers. Successful candidate must have experience in program development, program management or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.Considerable knowledge of new student program approaches, principles and theories that strengthen resiliency factors for new students and develop academic support structures.Knowledge of student development theory and best practices.Knowledge of effective principles used in developing an academic plan.Knowledge of student success strategies and retention techniques.Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationship with students, employees, and the public.Skill in facilitating and modeling a quality customer service orientation.Strong oral and written communication skills; ability to listen and clearly respond to various constituents (i.e. students, parents, admissions counselors).Ability to efficiently multi-task and conduct/complete independent work assignments. ................
