EXPERIENCE Perform daily and routines that implement the safety and security of the Port of Newark and Elizabeth. Supervise the operation of the CCTV systems in the Operations Control Center; control the cameras manually through programming, logging and reporting suspicious/illegal activity and retrieving recordings for investigation. Monitor police, fire and Marine VHF radios with scanners. Conduct daily barge checks for billing purposes and to ensure berths are available for dockage. Respond to change in MARSEC levels by communicating any change to tenants, port users, vessels and police and comply with the security measures in accordance to the Facility Security Plan for New Jersey Marine Terminals. Perform harbormaster duties with entail overseeing applications submitted by shipping agents, creating a schedule with vessel information such as arrival and departure times, and confirming that gate orders have been received in order to provide access control in the event that a vessel is docked in the port. Send out burst faxes; which are notifications of incidents that could affect operations, traffic flow or a security incident or threat; to tenants and proper authorities. Maintain an electronic log of activities or incidents that occurred during the shift. Conduct facility tours each shift to ensure gates are secured, security guards are present and alert, and railroad gates are functioning properly and to report and damages to maintenance.
