ABOUT GENESEE COMMUNITY COLLEGE

GCC was founded in 1966 as part of the State University of New York (SUNY) system after a successful publicly voted referendum. Guiding the College through all endeavors through the years is the continuous dedication to meeting the changing needs of students and the community.

LOCATIONS

Genesee Community College is located just outside the City of Batavia in upstate New York, centered between the greater metropolitan areas of Buffalo and Rochester. The Batavia campus and College Village, the student residence community adjacent to the main campus, are nestled amid the scenic hills and farmland of the quiet Genesee County countryside. Yet, less than 40 minutes away are two urban areas teeming with cultural, sporting, and civic opportunities.

In addition to the main campus in Batavia, Genesee Community College also has six Campus Centers located in Livingston, Orleans and Wyoming counties. With seven campus locations in four counties and more than 5000 students, Genesee Community College has become one of the most highly-respected community colleges in the United States. Since its founding in 1966, it has become an important part of the prestigious State University of New York (SUNY) education system.

FACILITIES Student Success Center

Success Center brings the admissions, financial aid, academic advisement, job and career counseling and a variety of other student services into one building. The one-stop service center features Success Coaches who provide each new GCC student with a single point of contact from his or her first day on campus all the way through commencement.

Richard C. Call Arena

Completed in 2017, the 54,000 square foot facility houses many of GCC's physical education classrooms and coaches offices, a new Fitness Center, meeting rooms, a press box overlooking the Turf Field, and the 20,400 square foot field house that can accommodate many different types of events ? from sporting competitions to trade shows and community gatherings.

Rosalie "Roz" Steiner Art Gallery

585-343-0055 x6490 GCCgallery@genesee.edu Added to the Genesee Center for the Arts in 2011, the Art Gallery can accommodate a variety of exhibits featuring visual works, sculpture, ceramics and other media. The gallery is also equipped with state-of-the-art lighting and "smart technology" to make new media and Web-based exhibits possible.

Wolcott J. Humphrey III Student Union

Completed in 2006, this 10,500-square-foot complex provides space for student cocurricular, social events and recreational activities. The Student Activities Office, Veterans Services Office and Student Government Center are housed in the Student Union. The building includes a fireplace, Subway Restaurant, dining area, TV, a bay of computer terminals, pool table and ping-pong tables.

Conable Technology Building

Completed in 2000 and named after the region's noted statesman, the late U.S. Representative Barber Conable, the two-story wing offers 42,000 square feet for state-of-the-art computer labs, a media production suite, eLearning and "smart"

classrooms, and a 150-seat tiered lecture hall with the latest presentation equipment.

BEST Center

585-345-6868 bestcenter@genesee.edu Located in the Conable Technology Building at GCC, The Business and Employee Skills Training (BEST) Center is the recognized regional leader in developing the skilled workforce that powers local area economic growth. The Center provides a wide array of programs and services designed to prepare individual employees as well as businesses and organizations for success in the regional economy. The BEST Center offers open enrollment seminars and workshops as well as truly customized training designed to assist businesses improve the performance of their people and processes. The Center serves individual employees as well as business both large and small.

Genesee Center for the Arts

585-345-6814 boxoffice@genesee.edu Completed in 1991, the Genesee Center for the Arts includes the 328 seat Stuart Steiner Theatre and the 1,700 square foot Rosalie "Roz" Steiner Art Gallery as well as studio and instructional space. The Center accommodates dramatic productions, art exhibitions, concerts, literary readings, dances, and lectures. The Center lobby provides additional exhibition space for college and community organizations and events.

Alfred C. O'Connell Library
