Fluid in the joint can be one of 3 things: 1). Blood 2). Synovial Fluid 3). Pus. Blood can be indicative of bone fracture or ligament tear. Blood in the knee may be an ACL or PCL tear which have a good blood supply. Pus can be a sign of an infection causing swelling. Synovial fluid is yellow fluid.
