FORMATTING TABLES

1. A table is a grid of rows and columns used to display and organize information.

2. Double space after the main title.

3. Double or single space between entries.

4. Double space after secondary titles.

5. The source is a note left aligned at the bottom of the table used to identify the source of the information provided in the table.

6. Column headings should be center aligned.

7. 3 rules for a table: The main title should be centered, all caps, and bold.

CORRECT FORMAT FOR A REPORT

1. A business report is used to assist in a business related problem. An academic report is used to summarize educational related topics.

Unbound reports are prepared without binders. Left bound reports are bound on the left side and formatted with an extra ½ inch left margin. Top bound reports are bound at the top of the pages.

2. Margins be set for an unbound report are Top margin is 2”. Left, right, and bottom margins are 1”.

3. Alignments of the report title are should be centered.

4. Line spacing after the report title is quadruple space.

5. If a title has more than one line, the line spacing between the main heading and the secondary heading is double space. The line spacing between the secondary heading and the body is quadruple space.

6. The line spacing in the body of the report should be double space.

7. Side headings keyed in a report are keyed in initial cap, left aligned, underlined, and followed by a double space.

The 1st page of a report is usually not numbered. All other pages are usually numbered ½ inch from the top of the page and right aligned.

11. The Title is centered about 2 or 2.5 inches from the top of the page. The Course/Teacher is centered about 2 inches below the title. The student name is a double space below the course/teacher and the date is centered about 2 inches below the student name.

13. The purpose of a bibliography is to provide a listing of the sources/references used to write the report.

14. Sources organized in a bibliography are organized alphabetically by the author’s last name.

15. Type of indention is used when formatting sources in a bibliography are keyed using a hanging indent.

16. Line spacing should be used within and between each source should be single spaced within and double-spaced between sources.
