VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

On behalf of Tanzania Livestock Research Institute (TALIRI), Marine Parks and Reserve Unit (MPRU) and University of Dodoma (UDOM), Public Service Recruitment Secretariat (PSRS) invites dynamic and suitable qualified Tanzanians to fill 21 vacant posts as mentioned below;

1.0. TANZANIA LIVESTOCK RESEARCH INSTITUTE (TALIRI)

The Tanzania Livestock Research Institute (TALIRI) is an institute responsible for the development and dissemination of appropriate technologies for the improvement of the livestock industry in Tanzania. They develop, disseminate and promote appropriate livestock technologies that will improve productivity of the livestock industry while utilizing natural resources in a sustainable manner.

1.0.1 FIELD ATTENDANT GRADE II- 3 POSTS 1.0.2. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

i. To clean pens, bomas and equipment; ii. To do dipping, dehorning, disbudding, debeaking and other related

operations; iii. To carryout milking and egg collection; iv. To take care of experimental animals; and v. To perform any other duties as may be assigned by the Supervisor.

1.0.3. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE Holder of Form IV certificate or Certificate in one of the following fields; General Animal or Crop Husbandry from FDC or VETA or any other Institution recognized by the Government.

1.0.4. SALARY SCALE: POSS 2

2.0. MARINE PARKS AND RESERVES UNIT (MPRU) Marine Parks and Reserves Unit (MPRU) is a semi-autonomous Government Institution established by Parliamentary Act No. 29 of 1994. The MPRU is charged with establishment, development, managing and administering of Marine Parks and Reserves in the mainland Tanzania. The MPRU has been successful in sustaining 3 Marine Parks (multiple use areas) and 15 Marine Reserves (no-take areas, where extractive use of resources is strictly prohibited). The MPRU operates under the Board of Trustees, which oversee daily implementation of its activities. MPRU establish and manage Tanzania's MPAs for sustainable use.

2.0.1. MARINE CONSERVATION WARDEN II- 3 POSTS

2.0.2. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

i. To participate in data collection and processing for research and monitoring activities in Marine Parks/Reserves;

ii. To participate in preparation and implementation of awareness programmes for community and other MPA stakeholders;

iii. To participate in developing programs for resources protection; iv. To participate in developing research priorities /agendas for MPA; v. To assist in formulation of strategies for MPAs operations; vi. To participate in all matters related to licensing and enforcement of MPAs

regulations to include prosecution; vii. To participate in preparation of MPA Management plan and other issue specific

plans; viii. To participate in preparation of action plan and budget for conservation section; and ix. To perform any other official duties as may be assigned by supervisor.

2.0.3. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE Bachelor Degree in one of the following fields: Marine Science, Aquaculture, Aquatic Science, Environmental Science, Natural Resource Management, Marine Biology, Zoology/Botany and Wildlife Management or equivalent qualifications from recognized institutions.

3.0 UNIVERSITY OF DODOMA (UDOM) ? CONTRACT EMPLOYMENT

The University of Dodoma (UDOM) was formally established in March 2007 following the signing of the Charter by the President of the United Republic of Tanzania. The first academic programmes commenced in September 2007. The University is located at Chimwaga area about 8 kilometers East of Dodoma town center within Dodoma City. The University has seven colleges.

The broad objective of establishing UDOM is "To create in Tanzania a place where knowledge will be transferred from one generation to another; a place where through relevant teaching and learning processes, human capital vested with knowledge and skills for economic development of Tanzania will be produced; and a place where through relevant research, the frontiers of knowledge will be advanced and provide solutions to the people's sufferings".

3.0.1 DRIVER II 15 POSTS 3.0.2 NATURE OF EMPLOYMENT: ONE YEAR CONTRACT

3.0.3 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: i. To drive vehicles towards approved destinations and in accordance with traffic regulations. ii. To undertake minor mechanical repairs. iii. To take vehicles due for routine maintenance/repair to the appointed service agent. iv. To maintain motor vehicle log books. v. To make pre?inspection to the assigned vehicle prior travelling and report mechanical damages/defects. vi. To ensure safety and cleanliness of the vehicle at all times.

vii. To ensure that valid documents and permits are acquired prior commencement of any journey. 3

viii. To report promptly accidents or incidents involving the vehicles to the relevant authority

3.0.4 QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE: Holder of Form IV Certificate and a Class "C1 or E" Driving License who has attended Basic Driving Course offered by VETA or any recognized Institution with Driving experience of at least one (1) year without causing accidents. Possession of Trade Test Grade II/Level II in Motor Vehicle Maintenance/Mechanics is an added advantage

3.0.5 REMUNERATION: PGSS 2.1

An applicant must upload recent Passport Size Photo in the Recruitment Portal; vii. An applicant employed in the Public Service should route his application letter

through his respective employer; viii. An applicant who is retired from the Public Service for whatever reason should not

apply; ix. An applicant should indicate three reputable referees with their reliable contacts;

x. Certificates from foreign examination bodies for Ordinary or Advanced level education should be verified by The National Examination Council of Tanzania (NECTA).

xi. Professional certificates from foreign Universities and other training institutions should be verified by The Tanzania Commission for Universities (TCU) and National Council for Technical Education (NACTE);
