Rev. Michael J. Roth Vol. 4, No. 4

Next Sunday and Monday we have a truly unique and fortunate opportunity to participate in an Answers in Genesis conference. Trinity is privileged to host this bold and faithful Christian organization as it teaches us to defend the faith from the Word of God and the evidence of science. Be sure to avail yourself of the full opportunity Sunday morning and evening and Monday evening. Guaranteed you will be blessed in doing so.

Permit me to share the following from their website.

Answers in Genesis Mission Statement

Goal

To support the church in fulfilling its commission.

Vision

Answers in Genesis is a catalyst to bring reformation by reclaiming the foundations of our faith which are found in the Bible, from the very first verse.

Mission

• We proclaim the absolute truth and authority of the Bible with boldness.

• We relate the relevance of a literal Genesis to the church and the world today with creativity.

• We obey God’s call to deliver the message of the gospel, individually and collectively.

Core Values

• We resourcefully equip believers to defend their faith with excellence.

• We willingly engage society's challenges with uncompromising integrity.

• We sacrificially serve the AiG family and others.

• We generously give Christian love.

As you can see, Answers in Genesis shares the same values and goals as we do. May the Lord bless their work and our growth in the faith.

Howard S. Olson heard “Listen, God is Calling” (LSB 833) at a graduation in a theological extension program in Tanzania where Lutherans and Catholics worked together. It was sung before the reading of the gospel, and at the third stanza the people stood when the words in Swahili literally say, “Let us all stand, let us all stand, let us hear the word of salvation.” Olson wrote to the Catholic Seminary there to find out more about it, they responded, “Ask the Lutherans”! -- Cantor Nicole Busarow

Ministry Opportunities

God only gives you what you can handle  - "God is faithful, and he will not let you be tested beyond your strength but with your testing he will also provide the way out so that you may be able to endure it" (1 Corinthians 10:13).   Just because you CAN handle your tests does not mean God wants you to handle them ALONE.  Trinity has Stephen Ministry to help our congregation and community to endure our tests.  Please contact Debby Miskill to receive a Stephen Minister at 269-428-0727.

Want a great way to meet and fellowship with others here at Trinity? Save the date for Sunday evening February 26th and look for information on the “Progressive Dinner” coming next week!

Church and School Announcements

Trinity Lutheran is seeking to fill a full time custodian position. If you are interested, please pick up an application at our church office. Applications will be taken through January 23rd. If you have any questions, you may call John Griesbaum or Dave Johnson.

For almost 30 years, Trinity has been serving meals to the truly hungry in our area. Each year our church's Soup Kitchen Ministry Team serves a meal every fourth Tuesday of the month. We normally feed 175-225 people a nutritious meal. We are actively seeking a coordinator for Trinity’s Soup Kitchen Ministry. Norm McPherson had supervised this ministry for years, with his change from full-time to part-time ministry; he can no longer take on this commitment. Please prayerfully consider if God has gifted you to do such a Ministry. If you are interested or need more information, please call Debby Miskill or Pastor Roth in the Church Office.

If you haven’t gotten your 2012 OFFERING ENVELOPES yet—they are located in the Church Office. Thank you.

2011 Contribution Statements are available for pick-up in the Welcome area, close to the coat rack. Any not picked up, will be mailed out before the end of January.

Relay for Life Team- Have you or someone you love been affected by cancer?  Trinity Lutheran Church will have a team at this year’s Relay and we are looking for team captains and members.  The kick-off for this year’s Relay is next month.  If you are interested in joining us to “fight back”, please call Joyce Rudowske at 269-926-7937 or Betty Perrone at the church office, 269-983-5000.  The prayer shawl count is up to 77!!

ME, A PASTOR? ME, A DEACONESS?  If you have found yourself asking this question, now is the time discuss your future! Rev. Andrew Yeager of Concordia Theological Seminary, Fort Wayne, Indiana, is going to be at Trinity Lutheran Church, Saint Joseph, on Jan. 30th, from 5pm to 7pm. Come and explore the possibilities! Men of all ages are invited, as are their wives, fiancées, and parents. Women interested in the deaconess program are also invited, along with their families. Conferences are individual and informal. Reservations are not required; however, if you are able, please email Rev. Yeager at Andrew.Yeager@ctsfw.edu to notify him that you are coming, and feel free to call him on his cell at 260-449-0047 to speak to him personally or call the church office.

AiG Envelope: An envelope is included in today’s bulletin to help defray expenses of the AiG Conference. Your monetary gift would be appreciated for this event and will be a blessing to our church and community.

You may also wish to volunteer for helping out at the conference. If so, please contact Jonathan Busarow @ 937-266-6792.

Be sure to invite your co-workers, friends & family

to the AiG Conference next weekend!

Welcome

We extend a warm welcome to all who worship with us today. It is our joy to worship with you. As the Holy Spirit gathers, enlightens, and sanctifies the Church, we believe you will meet your risen Savior today through Word and Sacrament. If you are a first-time visitor, please introduce yourself to our pastor after the service. And if you do not have a church home, we invite you to consider becoming a part of our church family.

Please take time to fill out the Welcome & Communication sheet in your bulletin and place it in the offering plate as it is passed. Thank you.
