The Role:

The Finance area within Irish Water ensures the effective financial management of the organisation and provides the expertise, services and information to support the business in achieving the required business outcomes, including the financial and information requirements of Irish Water.

Reporting to the Tax Operational Lead, the Tax Accountant is responsible for managing transactional tax compliance affairs for Irish Water.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

? Assist in the management and monitoring of tax compliance across Irish Water ? Prepare VAT, RCT, PSWT, PAYE and CT returns and ensure that the related Revenue

deadlines and requirements are achieved in an efficient and effective manner in accordance with tax legislation/guidance. This would include a reconciliation of returns to tax balances in accounts ? Provide necessary guidance and advice on tax legislation to those with responsibility for processing transactions ? Liaise with the tax leads to ensure all tax compliance activities are undertaken and to support any Tax reporting requirements ? Establish and maintain relationships across the business particularly working closely with Accounts Payable and Procurement ? Assist in promoting an increased awareness of tax risks, threats and opportunities across Irish Water ? Assist in identifying key taxation issues and taking appropriate action to minimise tax risks / exposures and maximise returns ? Provide appropriate support/advisory/training on tax related matters including researching and resolving technical queries from the transaction services function, reviewing contracts, carrying out periodic reviews, and advising of any updates in new tax legislation ? Continually strive to seek improvements and efficiencies for running and executing tax activities ? Keep up-to-date with all relevant tax requirements for Irish Water ? Respond to related tax correspondence and research issues as they arise in line with the Irish Water tax advice policy process ? Managing the tax process for dealing with imports of goods from the UK

? Other duties as required from time to time

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

? AITI Qualified with associated membership with a minimum of 3 years' experience in a similar role

? An accounting qualification would be advantageous ? Have exposure to all areas of taxation including VAT, RCT, PSWT, CIS CT and Payroll

taxes ? Have a thorough knowledge of Irish tax legislation and ability to distil complex taxation

legislation into meaningful advice ? Proven ability to create and develop good working relationships to facilitate the

accomplishment of work goals, coupled with the ability to gain commitment from others ? Have experience of working in a large complex organisation ? Advanced experience and expertise in MS Excel ? Familiarity with ERP systems, particularly Oracle would be advantageous. ? Experience in the use of Hyperion Reporting tool would be particularly advantageous ? Ability to assess and execute programs, policies and show initiative in relation to operational

needs ? Ability to work to strict deadlines ? Enthusiastic committed self-starter with proactive approach to problem solving. ? Ability to set up ongoing procedures to collect and review information as needed ? Have excellent analytical skills and be able to identify and analyse problems and potential

improvements, and propose and implement solutions ? Excellent communication and presentation skills ? Strong verbal and written communication skills ? Proven track record with dealing with complex issues, proactively and in a timely fashion,

along with the ability to communicate complex information with others ? Proactively identifying new areas of learning and using newly gained knowledge and skill on

the job ? Ability to set own high standards of performance and delivering desired results
